Suitable for all types of commercial and leisure vessels IonGuard is our new and innovative solution to the age old problem of finding out whether or not your anodes are working properly, without the considerable expense of slipping the vessel or hiring a diver.
The through hull fitting allows the IonGuard unit, complete with its anode, to be drawn into the boat for inspection, and if necessary, changing. IonGuard is continually on duty monitoring stray electrical current activity and guarding against it. On smaller boats IonGuard, correctly fitted, is all the protection you will require. On larger vessels IonGuard enables regular inspections to be carried out giving peace of mind that expensive sterngear is being fully protected from the ravages of electrolysis.

The Anode Eye is a simple, reliable and effective anode wear indicator which allows a boat owner to check the condition of the vessel’s sacrificial anodes on a regular basis. It is the only anode wear indicator that enables the owner or crew to check the condition of their anodes whilst the boat is still in the water avoiding unnecessary damage to the vessels underwater equipment.
The through hull fitting, manufactured for Anode Eye Ltd by Tru Design Plastics, is made of a special grade of glass reinforced nylon composite, resulting in a quality product with high impact and tensile strength, certified by the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI) in Belgium.
The ISO 9093-2 certification was gained after exhaustive testing was carried out in accordance with the (IMCI).
The Anode Eye window is manufactured from cast acrylic and has two ‘O’ seals fitted to seal it into the bore of the through hull fitting. The window is held into place with a glass reinforced nylon cap locked with a 2mm grub screw.
How Does The Anode Eye Work?
The Anode Eye is fitted through the hull of the vessel behind a pre-drilled anode. As the anode erodes, the blind hole in the back of the anode will eventually become visible from the front of the anode. This allows ambient light to pass through the Anode Eye window, indicating that the anode has either worn past its most efficient state, or has become detached from the hull of the vessel.
It is recommended that remedial action is taken as soon as possible when light is visible through the Anode Eye window.
