An Optiparts Club spar is the ideal training rig for beginner Optimist sailors. Constructed of 6000 Series aluminum, they are made for durability and longevity. They are designed with an attached sprit halyard marine block and use eye straps instead of pins for boats and plugs at the mast for boats head. Keeping the spar contained eliminates the constant cost of replacing parts. All Optiparts Club spars purchased through McLaughlin Boat Works are specially upgraded to include a 4:1 sprit halyard with a ball bearing Microblock and a premium marine cleat package. The upgrades we insist upon put these Club Racing Spars a cut above any other club spar on the market.
The Ø 45 x 2.2 mm mast for boats and Ø 27 x 1.5 mm sprit are made of the highest grade aluminium available. (7075 T6 Aerospace spec. alloy) and the super stiff BLACK GOLD mast and sprit can be used with a choice of booms :
The 32 mm BLACKLITE boom
A bendy boom, which comes with a bridle, will flatten and depower the sail which enables the lightweight sailor to go faster in more wind.
The 40 mm BLACKGOLD boom
A stiff and lightweight boom, which comes with a bridle and suitable for the majority of sailors.
The 55 mm BLACKMAX boom
The ultra stiff (and yet lightweight) boom can be used without a bridle. This enables the larger sailor to jump across the boat and not too far aft while tacking.

The Sea Sure jib furler is designed for complete reliability. The
drum is completely enclosed to prevent rope for boats from coming off and
jamming during operation. It also features an all stainless steel
thrust bearing so that it still operates easily when the forestay is
fully tensioned. Being less than 50mm between centres allows the
jib to be set very low to the deck for maximum sail efficiency. It can
also be mounted below the deck using an additional stainless steel extension for boat tube. The furler will take up to 3.5m of 3mm line allowing
it to be used on sails with a foot length of approximately 3m (this is
reduced if larger diameter line is used). Drum Diameter: 69mm
Weight: 116g (25-54)
Our head marine swivels are fitted with stainless steel balls and bronze marine seats for low friction and long life. They are available in two sizes
and are fitted with anti chafe inserts for added sail protection.
Weights: 53g (25-57); 48g (25-57A)
Fabricated from 316 stainless steel this well tested reliable design is
tough and strong.
As well as being used for inner forestays they can also be used as a
safety device on boats fitted with furling headsails allowing a storm
jib to be flown in an emergency.
The pin type maststep must be used together with the pin type heel plug. Friction between mast for boats and maststep is reduced to a minimum. Most popular is our round type maststep. This maststep has an oval cup, which allows the mast to tilt forward when going downwind. Different mast rakes can easily be repeated using the scale on the base. New for 2007: Mast step locking system. Stainless steel spring which prevents the nut from turning accidentally. There is no need for additional locking nuts anymore.
Less stiff but this is ideal for the light weight sailor who has just started racing.
The silver ø45 x2mm mast for boats, ø40x1.2mm boom and ø25.4 x 1.6mm sprit are made of temered 6082 aluminium tube.
The lightweight 40mm silver boom is much stiffer than the school boom and will allow the sailor to put more tension on the leach.
The silver sprit has 15cm anti chafe protectiontubing
Basic sail/spar bag for boats to carry your marine equipment. Holds your sail when rolled around the boom. 2 m long. Red nylon material keeps your sails clean and your spars protected.
A truly robust range of end fittings. Fabricated from 316 stainless steel they are very durable and capable of survival even in the toughest conditions.
