The APU is a perfect fit with WESMAR's other hydraulically driven products, and partners well with WEMAR's Central Hydraulic Systems. It offers complete control from the helm and can be operated right from the bridge by simply turning the key and using the proportional joystick for forward and aft propulsion. Once the system is engaged with the key lock at the helm, it is activated and you are immediately in control and underway. No need to visit an engine room at all.

The SkySails-System consists of three simple main components: A towing kite with rope, a launch and recovery system, and a control system for automatic operation.
Instead of a traditional sail fitted to a mast, SkySails uses large towing kites for the propulsion of the ship. Their shape is comparable to that of a paraglider.

Functionally the propulsion drive can be divided into following parts : supply transformer, propulsion motor and frequency converter. In an AC drive, a frequency converter is used to control the speed and torque of electric motor. The speed of the AC electric motor can be controlled by varying the voltage and frequency of its supply. A frequency converter works by changing the constant frequency main electrical supply into a variable frequency output.

This electric propulsion system has been adopted to ships like, the luxurious passenger vessel which requests comfort riding, the ice-beaker which needs back-and-forth navigation, & the research ship which needs extreme low speed and reducing vibration and water noise.
Become efficient recently, and make use of merit, feeling of adoption of this system appears on a general merchant ship, as engine room space can be reduced while cargo room can be expanded, by adopting of this system.

Twin Azipod® provides greater maneuverability and full redundancy from power generation to propeller. Twin Azipod® is the most widely used propulsion for cruise ships.
|
|
Steadily increasing market demands for larger and faster ships have
led to the development of CRP Azipod®, an innovative contra-rotating
propulsion system that enhances efficiency up to 15% compared to
other propulsion technologies.
Contra-rotating propulsion means that there are two propellers on
the same line rotating in opposite directions. With CRP Azipod®, a
steerable Azipod® unit is installed in place of a normal rudder, aligned
downstream of the main propeller. The Azipod® propeller takes
advantage of the rotative energy left in the slipstream of the forward
propeller, providing significant efficiency gains. CRP Azipod® combines
with most types of main propulsion.

Veth Motoren is expert in the field of constructing self contained, powered deck-mounted units, thus allowing non-powered vessels, such as barges, to become self propelled.
As with all applications, the deck-mounted installation can also be supplied, if required, a variable height mechanism in order to facilitate the adjustment of the height of the propeller.
With the use of well designed, sound proofed engine boxes, Veth Motoren has created compact designed propulsion units, but has maintained full accessibility for all the necessary servicing and maintenance
