OSS Bulk Carrier design is one of the first bulk carrier designs to be build to full Common structures rules (CSR), including full PSPC coating of ballast tanks and permanent access for all critical areas. Classification by ABS.
European quality and long experience from container ship production ensures focus on fatigue details and thus long lifetime and less steel maintenance.
Maximum cargo capacity related to main dimensions.
Excellent speed/power performance and sea keeping behaviour.
Optimized for Dunquerke loading and unloading conditions.
Four floodable cargo holds. One dedicated for ballast voyages with BWE overboard pipes. Great pump capacity for quick ballasting and de-ballasting.

The cargo system is designed to carry and handle two different grades of normal Portland cement, for a specific density of airless cement of 1.1 - 1.4 t/m3. The vessel is able to load either by gravity at a rate of 1x1000 t/h, pneumatically at a rate of 4x150 t/h and pneumatically through up to 16 hoses from road carriers. Unloading by pneumatic conveying from ship to shore silos capable of 4x125 t/h with a conveying distance including height of 435 mts. The cargo gear consisting of one crane of 9 t at 22 mts outreach. This new technology, installed for the first time in this kind of ships, was developed by Vianayard engineers, together with ISQ (Portuguese Welding and Quality Institute) and KPMG Peat Marwick.
