The Integrated Navigation System (INS) is a combination of mutually interfaced systems ensuring better safety of navigation and higher sea transport efficiency.
The INS combines the main navigational aids produced by Transas (ECDIS, Navi-Radar, Navi-Conning) forming a single environment for a more efficient application of all the functional capabilities featured by these systems.

The Electro Electric Systems Division of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd, the major global shipbuilder, has chosen Transas as a co-operation partner for the joint development of the new Hyundai Transas intelligent Bridge System (HTiBS). Hyundai and Transas developed an efficient and cost effective intelligent bridge system, the use of which brings a number of essential benefits to navigating personnel and has a positive impact on improving ships overall operation and safety of navigation.

The L-3 Valmarine Integrated Bridge Control System (IBCS) is a ship-operating concept comprising a navigation and vessel management system, manoeuvre control and common alarm handling.
It is designed with focus on human factors and thus taking into account the whole working environment when designing e.g. the bridge layout, including sight angles, communication needs and particular operations for the vessel. It is therefore adapted to the ergonomic requirements of the operators and the working environment is optimised for efficiency. Focus on human factors will give direct improvements on issues such as operational safety, efficiency and up-time, manning & crew flexibility, life-cycle cost and safety of personnel.
The system solution is based on well-established industrial standard, marine approved components with world-wide support and is designed for high reliability and availability. This is ensured by an architecture which utilises redundant, multi-function operator stations in combination with monitoring and control facilities distributed into a number of independent, autonomous sub-systems all connected in a redundant network. The L-3 Valmarine IBCS concept is focusing on functional integration, meaning that any navigation function can be preformed from any operator station. Thus, the consequences of any failure in the system are minimised and the operability is kept as high as possible.

The Mega-Guard Integrated Navigation System is based upon a minimum of three multi-function Workstations and on each Workstation the following functions are available:
- X- Band and S-Band ARPA Radar with chart overlay
- Conning including Centralized Alarm System and Watch Safety System functions
- ECDIS with radar overlay
- Integrated Control and Monitoring
Each Mega-Guard Workstation is equipped with a Marine Personal Computer, a TFT Screen (23" or 19") and a Trackball for easy operation. The Workstations are inter-connected via an Ethernet (main/backup) network. The Mega-Guard X and S Band Antenna-Transceivers are directly connected to the Ethernet network as well. All other navigation sensors are wired to the Workstations in a redundant way. The Mega-Guard Integrated Navigation System integrates all bridge equipment and communicates with the Integrated Control and Monitoring System.The design of the Mega-Guard complies with the One Man Integrated Bridge philosophy and has a full redundantlay-out according Class rules LRS (IBS NAV1), DNV (NAUT-AW) and BV (SYS).

Full multifunctional workstations combine functions of IMO radars, ECDIS and central navigation data display on one dedicated position, providing maximum flexibility for navigation data access at any location on the integrated bridge. The workstations provide all information for safe, precise navigation. In conjunction with our autopilot, the system allows qualified track control while the radar or ECDIS screen is being watched, thus achieving a higher level of integration.
Reliable sensors support the core system with all relevant data, which is distributed and monitored by a fully redundant data and alarm management system. Radio communication systems according to GMDSS can be added to the IBS.
