With a successive third PWA world slalom title and a new sailing speed record associated to its name in 2008, there can be no doubt that the RS:RACING’s unique combination of technology, control and performance has set the benchmark by which all other racing sails will again be judged.
For 2009, the PWA has changed the rules and limits sailors to six sails and 3 boards for the season. This motivated us to design new sizes with increased wind range and maximum control levels but without any compromise made on power and ultimate speed.
We are therefore pleased to release the new RS:RACING EVOII. You will find new sails characterized by a significantly more compact outline and the introduction of a very pronounced Dynamic Compact Clew.
The RS:RACING EVOII has evolved from the original RS:RACING in many subtle ways and we believe this sail to be the fastest, while also the least physically demanding to use, we have ever created.

The Cannonball is the perfect partner for committed fast sailors and GPS racers who require a maximum of performance on all courses. In comparison to a pure race sail, the Cannonball is easier to handle and trim. The use of new roll cams makes the rotation softer and the sail rigging easier.
After sleeving the mast and applying about 75% of the downhaul, simply roll the cams onto the mast.
A medium-sized mast sleeve, 3 cams, a relative short boom and 7/8 battens in the cross batten concept guarantee planing power, outstanding acceleration and a top high end speed.
The harmonic shape with a deep profile and a distinctive loose leech gives an extra portion of power in low wind area and outstanding stability, even in the upper wind limits.
Key facts:
Reduced Boom Length for compact handling
7/4 or 8/41 batten configuration in cross batten concept
Airfoil Leech Design for more control in a wider wind range
2 Clew eyelets for more flexibility of boom position in different conditions
Medium-sized mast sleeve combined with deep profile for maximum early planing power

Unlimited speed/slalom
The 2009 Mega XS line was completely updated by Renato Morlotti in several important areas.
Sizes 4,7 and 5,2 are now equipped with a special camber set for RDM masts. With this new feature, the aerodynamics at high speeds are significantly improved. All other sizes use our SDM (standard diameter mast) cambers.
The important slalom sizes from 6,8 to 8,1 have a new body shape and are equipped with an 8-batten configuration which excels with much better control in the upper wind range.
The use of new roll cams makes the sail rotation softer and also the location of the cambers when rigging is much easier.
The Mega XS is the ultimate speed/slalom experience for committed speed sailors and competition racers.
Key facts:
Size specific batten configuration 7/5 or 8/5 in cross batten concept
4 New roll cams for soft rotation and easier rigging
Aerodynamic, wide mast sleeve shape out of Lektra

In order to support the growth and development of the Techno 293 OD and Hybrid classes, BIC Windsurf developed the One Design Rig package for use specifically by youth sailors on hybrid boards. This rig package has been designed to be raced in the widest wind range possible, representing the best possible compromise between light wind pumping performance and high wind planing performance. The key features of these rigs include:
A huge wind range: from 6 to 30 knots. By tuning the downhaul and outhaul, the sail can be rigged either very full with a tight leech, or very flat with an open leech.
A draft placement at approx. 40% from the front of the sail (freeride sails = 30% / sub-planing sails = 50%), offering the best compromise between lightwind performance and high wind control.
6 batten / 2 cam configuration for the best compromise between weight and performance.
A very stable profile for ease of use and control in the high winds.
A tack strap tensioner for maximum tuning range and power in light winds.
X-Ply reinforcements in critical areas, durable luff pocket material and webbing batten tensioners for ease of use and practicality in a club and racing environment. Though you may not win every race in all wind conditions, the goal of the One Design sails is to make sure that you have the tools to win the regatta!
Delivered in a very practical sail bag that includes additional pockets for storing the mast and the mast base, and the possiblity to attach the boom so that it can be carried «all in one».

The VMG is Aerotech's all out race sail. This model has been tweaked for 2009 building on the winning ways of the 2008 model. With even more shape and double vertical shaping panels you will find it has an even wider range while maintaining the slippery feel that the VMG stands for. the exclusive use of exotic materials (and no monofilm) for the construction allows weights to be kept to a minimum and performance kept to a maximum.

The S_TYPE is one of our most successful sails in all international magazine tests and is considered as THE reference in this class. Better than any other sail the S_TYPE combines acceleration with impressive performance and incredible speed without compromise to control or handling.
One can immediately feel that this sail incorporates not only all our experience from the NORTH SAILS racing range, but also the power and the latest features of the RAM F10. It‘s fascinating too that that the S_TY PE has gained functionality and is no even more suitable for a larger range of board types.
This is partly due to the familiar SWITCHABLE.CAM.OPTION allowing the sail to be ridden with either 3 or 2 cambers, and in particular to the CUTAWAY.CLEW outhaul that significantly improves handling thanks to a shorter boom and reduced rotation forces.
Another reason is the medium-size CONICAL.AERO.SLEEVE.DESIGN mast pocket. This represents the ideal compromise between optimum propulsion and comfortable waterstart behavior. Regardless whether at high speed or simply cruising and jibing, the S_TYPE has many faces - the perfect universal performer.
As to its durability: Apart from legendary features such as DOUBLE.SEAM and DURATECH.FOOT, we gave the CROSS.BATTEN additional seam protection to prevent chafing. Simply ingenious: All S_TYPE models work ideally with one mast length!

With the WARP F2009 Kai Hopf introduced a revolutionary way to engineer contour into the sail. We call this the INDEPENDANT.SHAPING.CONCEPT. Instead of using just one kind of shape for the whole sail (body and sleeve), Kai now works with 2 separate and independent profiles for the sail body and the sleeve. Despite taking twice the design time to perfect the advantages of this shaping concept are a break-through in sail design that also enables Kai to create different cloth tensions in these 2 ‘Independent’ parts of the sail:
1. The sail body tension is still pretty high and oriented towards the internal leading edge. Through the leading edge oriented sail body shaping the WARP F2009 rotates even better than its predecessor and gave significant benefits in high-end control.
2. Independent shaping enables us to use much lower tension for the mast sleeve area. The dynamic benefits are clear, especially when accelerating at the start-line or after jibing, or going through lulls, since it demands far less wind pressure to gain momentum. As a result the new WARP is now a lot less physical to sail.

|
For 2009, we have taken the successful '08 geometry and optimized the construction with an eye to saving weight. The weight savings in the leveraged areas of the sail (the leech, head and upper body) amount to just a few hundred grams, but the effect on the handling and perceived weight is enormous.
The Retro sports a slightly lower center of effort, made possible by a smaller head, longer chord and deeper foot profile. Mitigating the longer chord length is a clew cutout for the boom end on all the 7-batten Retro sizes (6.0 m² and up), which reduces the actual boom length, despite the lower aspect ratio. The clew cutout has additional advantages in that it lowers the swing weight of the rig and makes it possible to use a given boom on a larger size sail than was previously possible.
