These new Holmatro Winches have been reinvented for sailors by sailors. They have unique features and innovations that, we are convinced, will dominate trends in winch design for years to come.
With the launch of Holmatro winches we had one target in mind: to offer the best winch in the market” says Holmatro Marine Equipment’s GM Gert Jan Uijtdewilligen. “We are convinced we have succeeded. Our winches will provide sailors with more power, speed and fun for generations to come.”
Winch efficiency is how muscle power on a winch handle is transmitted to a sheet or halyard. Holmatro winches optimize your human input with a maximum exchange to useable sail power. Holmatro continues to use the proven Meissner concept of one-piece, self lubricating bearings resulting in less friction, longer life span and virtually no bearing maintenance. The advanced gear and bearing technology as well as the patent pending drum surface helps you to master your power.
The forged aluminum one piece stripper arm provides an elegant and safe non-rotating top. The arm can be positioned where necessary during installation and is shaped to minimize the possibility of fouling sheets during release. The forged aluminum drum provides strong, lightweight construction with optimal protection against corrosion. Using high-tech aluminum alloys, advanced composites and innovative design Holmatro winches are up to 50% lighter than comparable models on the market. The self-tailing jaws offer perfect grip to a variety of lines including modern line of smaller diameter as well as more traditional cordage. All Holmatro winches are designed to be easily upgraded to hydraulic or electric power with no changes to the winch necessary.
Unique features of Holmatro winches:
Grip & Run™ Grip & Run™ drum surface
Hybrid bearings provide less resistance and virtually no maintenance
Improved efficiency
Non rotating cap with an integrated stripper arm is an elegant and safe design
Quick and easy maintenance
Easily converted to hydraulic or electric power
Weighs up to 50% less than comparable models
More about our Grip & Run™ drum
The Grip & Run drum surface is matchless in the market. It is based on a Meissner patent (acquired by Holmatro in 2004). The grip while trimming and the control while easing are exceptional.
The Grip and Run™ advantages:
Maximum radial grip (wet or dry)
Minimal vertical resistance
Line tension is more evenly spread
Eases line smoothly, even at high loads
Less wear and tear on sheets and halyards

Lighter and smaller in volume these winches are a breakthrough from traditional design. These two key characteristics maximise comfort by reducing deck space and by increasing boat performance.
A larger diameter in the drum means more traction on the rope and more efficiency in self-tailing. Larger internal body diameter allows the use of aluminium and thinner walls resulting in a much lighter part.
Low profile and less weight, reaching 20% less in the #44. All winches bigger than the #44 present a roller bearing around the base resulting in a much more stable body, independent from the origin of the load. All shafts use roller bearings or highly-resistant auto-lubricated synthetic bushing. Self tailing and self-adjusting for a variety of rope diameters.
Off-centre axle means more space for gears. With the same base diameter the winch delivers greater mechanical advantage. This is a plus in high-load action and even allows the use of a shorter handle in lighter winds. First gear 15-25% higher allows a longer period of 'pumping' before using the second gear.

We have developed an entirely stainless winch. This is a prerequisite for the yachtsman who places honor in making his yacht look its best. ANDERSEN Full Stainless© is beauty at work, enhancing the unique image of your boat and the sheer pleasure of beholding it. A synthetic cap and base are replaced with stainless steel parts, transforming the winch into an aesthetic statement.

The ANDERSEN name is synonymous with precision, reliability and the ability to adapt to any situation. For our customers, this adds up to pure empowerment, allowing you to manage your sails and your boat with the utmost efficiency. Self-tailing winches with the ANDERSEN name are supremely trustworthy, allowing you to focus on sailing. All ANDERSEN Winches feature stainless steel Power Rib© drums that ensure a smooth surface and a corrosion-free winch that is built to last.
ANDERSEN Self-Tailing Winches© extend the service life of your sheets and halyards and the winch itself, since the Power Rib and the smooth surface of the drum require fewer turns compared to other winches. In addition, the self-tailing device is designed to accommodate a number of different of sheet and halyard sizes - enabling the winch to serve many different purposes and providing you with a range of products to choose from, no matter what you sail. A special option for ANDERSEN Winches is a choice of having your own winch titanium-coated in bronze or brass, whichever matches your classic boat. This means that the surface of your ANDERSEN Winch will never show wear and tear.

The Lewmar Wavespring self-tailer combines our renowned and gentle wave grip feature with self adjusting springs. It handles today's smaller diameters, as well as the traditional larger Dacron composite ropes. A sleek, minimum-friction feeder arm provides absolute snag-free operation.

TWO REDUCED SPEED
Quick and powerful operation is obtainable with the first reduced speed, then with increasing load, simply wind in the opposite direction the second gear and maximum power is automatically selected.
All these models are available with electric motors or hydraulic motors.

Three-speed self-tailing winches are ideal sheet winches on larger boats. Coupled with Harken's® large drum diameters, three-speed self-tailing winches offer very high line speeds for racing or fast cruising, even in heavy conditions. Self-tailing allows one crew member to handle the entire trimming task-perfect for cruising or racing boats.
First gear is selected by depressing the nameplate ring next to the winch handle socket. The winch then auto-shifts from first to second to third on successive crank direction of rotation changes. Use first gear for fast sheet trimming in light to moderate air.
All large three-speed winches offer drums supported by ball bearings, two gears driving the drum, 17-4 PH stainless shaft pins, and roller bearings on all gears.
By special order, the B74.3 can be provided with power ratios of 85:1 or 92:1 for use on high loads such as found on very large boats or multihulls.

ONE REDUCED SPEED
The two smallest models (W16 and W30) have a single reduced gear, giving a slow but powerful force. The handle turns freely the other way. Marine bronze base and gears, AISI 316 stainless steel central rod and bearings, black anodized aluminum (AL) or chrome-plated bronze (BR) drums.
TWO SPEED: DIRECT AND REDUCED
The addition of a direct gear to the models described above gives a faster recovery speed, which, combined with reduced weight and bulk, makes the two speed models the best choice for racing.
W16.2 ST is now available also in chromed or natural bronze version
