The simple winch handle is one item that most of us take for granted - unless of course it's about to take a quick trip over the side! Until now. The newly formed custom team at Lewmar have taken the everyday handle and redesigned it to create a pretty neat solution - aimed at both speeding up manoeuvres and improving usability.
A better lock-in winch handle had been on the design list at Lewmar for some time. The quick engagement and release of a handle in the top of a winch is essential in any manoeuvre, but in the past, getting handles in and out of winches always required a certain amount of time consuming fiddling around - made even more difficult in the heat of battle or with cold hands. Lock-in clips were often removed to make the process quicker, but this can lead to handle slippage under load as well as increasing the risk of it being flicked over the side by a stray line.
Barton now offers a comrehensive range of winch handles manufactured from modern high quality materials. All are designed to fit international design star sockets as well as deck filler caps.
Electric crank « MODEA » now enables you to send your large veil, to unroll or roll up your "génois", to border your listenings, or to send a team-member at the head of mast without any effort.
