Characteristics and advantages
ACO Maripur represents the highest possible standard of wastewater treatment plant currently available to the marine market. The ACO Maripur, with low-pressure micro-filtration units, offers the following advantages:
%u2022 Compact process due to high sludge concentration in the reactor. This equates to a greatly reduced footprint allowing more effective use of limited space on board ships. Power requirements for even the largest 200-man units are extremely low compared to comparable sidestream crossflow systems.
%u2022 Removal rates are significantly better than those required by current legislation. This gives operators the confidence that they will meet all likely future legislation and may even be allowed to discharge waste water in areas where this is currently prohibited (zero-emission areas).
%u2022 No need for an environmentally harmful and expensive secondary treatment stage for disinfection. Secondary chlorination or UV sterilisation, indispensable in conventional systems, are not necessary for biological membrane systems which form a physical barrier to the activated sludge, suspended solids, bacteria and even viruses.
%u2022 The application of micro-filtration units instead of conventional settlement means the ACO Maripur is unaffected by ships movement.
%u2022 Simple, automated process, requires minimal operator intervention and training.
%u2022 Able to treat both black and grey water (including laundry and galley water) in one reactor. This reduces the risk of further expense should incoming legislation require total treatment.

Biological sewage treatment plants
Evac's new generation sewage treatment plants fulfil the IMO and US Coast Guard regulations, and the technical construction meets tight quality expectations. Biological sewage treatment solution is fully biological odourless process, which produces no toxic gases.
Biological sewage treatment plants have been designed to minimize technical problems and maximize total process reliability. They are suitable for vacuum and gravity toilet systems, but also for processing both black and grey water - or black water only.
Biological sewage treatment plant has two aeration chambers for high efficiency and optimized bio process. When discharging sludge, there is no risk to accidentally destroy the bio population.
Biological sewage treatment plant can be dimensioned according to the number of people onboard and system parameters. The unit is small in dimension when compared to bio processing capacity. It is also flexible as processing tanks can be split in special solutions.
Fully automatic operation means that only a little maintenance is needed. Simple construction results in low maintenance costs and low spare part consumption.

This wastewater treatment technology has been utilized by Red Fox for over (25) years. This design is utilized on vessel applications.
The process used by the MSD involves the same three steps as the conventional unit, but the clarifier operates under a fluid head pressure allowing flocculation and settling of the solids in the clarification chamber to occur even when the vessel is in motion:
Coarse Screening: As the influent enters the sewage treatment unit, it passes through a bar strainer. This strainer will catch any large trash such as rags, plastic bags, etc., and prevent it from entering the system.
Aeration: Supports naturally occurring bacteria that eliminates the waste.
Clarification & Settling: Causes the separation of the bacteria sludge from the treated water.
Disinfection: Eliminates the presence of any living bacteria before discharge of the effluent into the environment.

Evac MBR
Membrane bioreactor series represent advanced wastewater treatment solutions for black and grey water for all the vessels. The Evac MBR is a future alternative to traditional biological units. With its membrane technology, it can easily fulfill all current and future treatment requirements. In certain cases, effluent from the unit can even be re-cycled for dedicated use.
Kubota membrane technology is the world market leader in wastewater treatment membrane elements. The Evac MBR is also available as a combined unit, in which equalizing of the hydraulic load and vacuum generation are directly connected. As a separate treatment unit, the Evac MBR can also be used for gravity drains.
Owing to low pressure, submerged membranes power consumption of Evac MBR is low. Quality of effluent is extremely high in all sea conditions, and it exceeds all current specifications. Foam control is effective and sludge removal intervals are long.
Membrane's life expectancy is 7 years or more.

Operating principle Biological Sewage Treatment system MSD-II
Waste water enters the system at the inlet (1).
The blower (2) provides air and causes the waste water to circulate through the submerged biofilter (4) by means of the airlift (3), a simple but reliable mammoth-pump principle.
The micro-organisms that grow on the surface of the media break down the organic particles in the waste water biologically.
Treated water flows to the disinfection tank (7) via the spillover (6).
The disinfection pump (8a) gives out liquid disinfectant in precisely measured doses so as to eliminate any remaining bacteria and viruses, resulting in high-quality treatment coefficients and effluent suitable to discharge overboard.
Grey water can enter the unit either through the grey water inlet (13) for disinfection only, or through the inlet (1) for biological treatment.
The discharge pump (9) and level switches (10) automatically maintain substance levels in the disinfection tank (7). A limited amount of sludge (11) settles at the bottom of the unit and can be released through air (12) and discharged by the pump (9).
An UV disinfection reactor (8b) can be installed as an alternative to the standard disinfection pump.

BIOEPURO
sewage treatment plant per liquami
The unit is completely pre assembled and can be easily installed on board by using a crane. Every unit is duly tested before delivery, and our skilled engineers will start-up the plant once installed.
Normally, only the sewage from W.C. and urinal passes through the wole plant, while the water from washbasins, showers, etc. Is passed directly to th echlorination tank where eventually, sterelization takes place, because it does not need any biological treatment.
The sewage to be treated, enters the pre-aeration-separation tank where, through special diffusers, air is added, in order to supply the neccessary amount of oxigen for the breeding of micro-organisms required for the process.
At this stage, all bio-degradable matter; a macerator of our own design can be installed. After this, the pre-treated sewage passes to the aeration thank where the bacteria mass in increased further, and, after a sufficient retention period, is delivered to the settling tank by an air-lift.
This air-lift can be considered as the heart of our plant and because its output is self-regulating, it is possible to obtain an almost costant output, indipendent of the sewage supply rate.
