Fontemar® generators are the only ones on the market in which the structural elements and boiler are manufactured entirely from AISI 316-L stainless steel, which increases their useful lifetime by more than 40% and also allows rapid repairs onboard the ship.
The compact Fontemar® design adapts to the space requirements of the engine room.

Desalt fresh water generators
Desalt is a range of fresh water generators that are ideal for installation on-board ships, rigs and remote onshore/offshore locations.
Alfa Laval supplies a range of fresh water generators conversion of seawater into freshwater by vacuum distillation for the supply of high quality freshwater for domestic and process utilization.
For fresh water supply aboard ships the JWP series have been designed for automatic operation with continuous control of freshwater quality.
For off-shore rigs, remote locations and locations where a plentiful supply of sea water is required for process applications, the DPU series provides reliable return on waste heat.
Both types are easy to maintain, simple to install and are highly sea water resistant because of the titanium plates selected for the heat transfer surface.

The distillating plant consists on two evaporator stages made in two independent chambers.
Each chamber has a submerge tube heater at the bottom, and one condenser on the second chamber.
The generated steam on the first chamber is used to warm-up the second stage heater.
The condensation produced inside the heater tubes is recovered via one steam trap by the distillate water pump.
This condensed water is the extra production that we can get using the same amount of thermal energy.
Distilling plants were designed to operate with waste heat from diesel engines jacket cooling water, any how the units can operate with other heat sources, like steam or combination of both systems.
The distillate water produced is a very high quality product with salt content in distillate less than 2ppm.of NaCl.

The SONDEX freshwater distiller utilizes the heat from diesel engine jacket cooling water to produce pure drinkable water by evaporating sea water under high vacuum, enabling the feed water to evaporate at temperatures below 48°C.
Steam can also be used as the heat source instead of the hot jacket water. The SONDEX freshwater distiller is based on two SONDEX titanium plate heat exchangers, acting as an evaporator and a condenser respectively.

This operation is based on the principle of vacuum distillation. The sea water is boiled in vacuum at low temperatures in order to be transformed in steam. The steam passes through a monel strainer that eliminates any drop of water or strange particle, leaving only pure steam, that will pass to the condensation chamber.
The feed and seawater level are automatically controlled by devices already regulated at the factory so they do not need to be controlled by the user. The extra saltwater is continuously taken out from the system and pumped outside of the ship.
Once the system has been started, no adjustments are needed because of the automatic PETSEA VAP functioning, starting the fresh water production after several minutes. The freshwater is suctioned from the evaporator as soon as it is produced and pumped to the fresh water tank by means of a pump designed to work 24 hours a day.

The vacuum evaporators quantum ev sw have been developed to work 24 h/day, obtaining fresh water of great quality from seawater.
This type of generators produce fresh water through an evaporation process, for which they need a hot water feeding, coming usually from the cooling circuit of engines onboard.
