Maintaining a focus on building brawny boats loaded with technology, amenities and style as reflected in their latest models, Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) is introducing a new 68-foot long-range cruising Nordhavn. With popularity of expedition-style trawlers at an all-time high, this new N68 will bridge the gap between the look and feel of the Nordhavn 62 and the current flagship of the line, the Nordhavn 76. “There are those who have great affection for the aft pilot house boat and we felt that there was room in between our 62 and 76 for such a boat,” said PAE President Dan Streech.

For years, we at PAE had fielded requests from Nordhavn enthusiasts – as well as existing Nordhavn owners – who wanted us to build something larger than our venerable 62. After studying the market and realizing that the need for a bigger Nordhavn did exist, we developed the Nordhavn 72. The simple goal of this new model was not merely to extend the length of our then flagship, but rather to create a small super yacht: true to the rugged ocean going heritage of other Nordhavns while at once stunning in her elegance, beauty, fit and finish, systems and engineering.

Built on the same proven hull as the 80’ Tri-Deck, the Northern Marine 80 Raised Pilothouse Yacht offers a lower profile and a superstructure that has been extended forward, evidence of an innovative and functional arrangement within.
The full-beam master suite has been located amidships on the lower deck for an extra measure of stability and comfort on open ocean crossings. A curved stairway leads up to the main deck from a private foyer serving the owners’ and VIP suites. In the saloon, a large fixed lounge to port faces a large-screen TV and casual seating opposite. Just forward, a dining banquette is adjacent to an exceptionally well-equipped galley.

With popularity of the “northwest trawler”-style boat on the rise, PAE set out to create a new, big modern passagemaker that fused this salty look with the advanced systems of the latest Nordhavns. The result was the Nordhavn 76: developed for those yachtsmen who want an aft pilot house boat which carries its shore boats on the foredeck. Like our venerable Nordhavn 62, the pilothouse of the N76 is set aft, carries its crane forward and can launch its shore boats off either the port or starboard side. Based on the hull form and specifications of the N72, the simple goal of this new model was to create a small superyacht which was true to the rugged ocean going heritage of other Nordhavns while at the same time stunning in her elegance, fit and finish, systems and engineering.

With the unparalleled success of the Nordhavn 76 with its sophisticated systems and construction features, PAE’s design, engineering and manufacturing team was ready for a larger vessel and at 86 feet, this new Nordhavn represents PAE’s firm entry into the megayacht market. With a 24-foot beam, she is more than impressive at first sight, however her full load displacement of over 325,000 pounds allows her to compare with many vessels well over 100 feet.
