Kwant Controls has designed a joystick without the usual heavy-duty workmanship type rubber harmonica. The X-Y-Z joystick is flush mounted from underneath the panel, thus only showing the thin stainless steel 316 ring and the joystick itself. This means that the dashboard design is not disturbed by the usual black rubber harmonica and therefore will not scrutinize the design line of the naval architect, nor interrupt the intended color scheme.
The fine mechanical design guarantees a smooth operation and due to the low pivoting point the operator’s hand can rest on the dashboard, thus enhancing ergonomics.
Comment of a large user in the maritime market: “The best designed joystick ever felt”.
The Joystick KC06 has been type-approved by the leading classification bureaus ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, LRS, NKK , RINA and RMRS.

The steering wheels are used to set the ship’s heading by means of driving potentiometers that are connected to the rudder control system. The rudder function can also be performed by an azipod drive rather than the traditional rudder. Steering wheels come in the following executions:
• Friction control: An adjustable friction device is used as a steering damper.
• Electric shaft equipped: A DC motor is used to put the steering wheel and it’s signal transmitters in the position dictated by the current master position. A mechanical friction clutch allows for slipping in case of mechanical blockage and serves as steering damper as well.
• Spring return:The steering wheel will be forced to midship position when released by means of a special coil spring.
The mounting plate’s size can be either 144x144, 192x192 or 270x270mm. The size of the actual steering wheel is fixed. Dial illumination is standard, in the 270x270mm version emergency pushbuttons and a miniature electronic dimmer can be integrated. The steering wheels have been type-approved by the leading classification bureaus ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, LRS, NKK , RINA and RMRS.

The SPS55F8 features a capacitive type touchpad mounted into a stainless steel carrier plate, equipped with two stainless steel switches. The Solid State Touchpad and the switches are IP68 grade.
The silicone sponge panel-seal , which is part of the supply, provides waterproof IP68 sealing for the total unit when properly mounted into the customers' panel. The touchpad uses the "Field Distortion Technology" to sense the presence of the finger. The device is not pressure sensitive, a light touch is sufficient, tracking your fingertip precisely.
Because of the capacitive working principle, the unit might not work with thicker gloves. The unit is designed for harsh industrial applications, it will operate at all mounting angles and it does not require cleaning or maintenance. Therefore, it is very well suited for a wide range of applications, indoor and outdoor, such as public access- and information kiosks or terminals, navigation control, processing industry and many others.

These panel mount industrial grade 50mm trackballs, feature 7-colour illumination of the total ball surface and the mouse button legends. Up to seven different colours can be selected by internal settings on the trackball or by remote dynamic selection via an output connector.
For both selection methods, internal or remote, the illumination intensity can be dimmed. The total unit is sealed to IP65 static and comes with a silicon sponge to seal the carrier plate into the users' cabinet or console. The output is combo PS/2 & USB with auto-recognition and in both cases the current for the illumination is drained from the mouse ports.
