A through-hull underwater light is a watertight directional, spotlight for illuminating the seabed. It passes through a vessel's hull rather than being mounted to its surface.
Such lights are popular among yacht owners, enabling them to offer their guests the luxury of illuminated seascapes.
Most of these lights use xenon, metal halide or LED bulbs. Through-hull installation requires a hole the size of the light body traversing the entire thickness of the hull. It is clamped in place and made watertight by a seal and locknuts. Brass, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum and even titanium are used to make such lights.
LED light colors can sometimes be modified via computer, tablet, control panel or another remote system. Regular hue changes can be programmed to create interesting lighting effects.
LEDs are longer-lasting and much more energy-efficient than other bulbs. Some offer the color variation options mentioned above.
