TechnologiesThimbles vary in size and materials. The interior part is rounded so as to minimize friction. The outside part is adapted to the diameter of the cord.
While several shapes can be found (round thimbles, teardrop thimbles...), the main differentiating element is construction materials (plastic, metal, mild-steel...), which can present very different properties and breaking loads.
Consider the loop's dimensions and the diameter of the cord. Choose the thimble's material carefully. Plastic thimbles resist well to corrosion but have a lower breaking load than metallic thimbles.
