A thermal or thermographic camera is a video camera that creates images of heat-emitting bodies by detecting the infrared radiation they emit. NauticExpo offers thermal cameras that are portable, for boats, for yachts, etc.
The thermal camera has a variety of applications. It can be used for night vision, gas detection, machinery and operations maintenance and crack detection, rescue efforts, etc.
The thermal camera operates in the 3-14 µm (thermal infrared) range. This enables it to detect the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum emitted by various bodies. Warmer bodies emit more radiation than cooler ones. The thermal map created by the camera constitutes an image of the emitting body based on its varying temperatures.
Choice criteria include, size, sensor life, image definition (number of pixels) and spectral sensitivity.
