The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
A tanker is a ship designed to carry bulk liquid cargo. There are many different types, depending on the specific cargo. NauticExpo features asphalt, LPG, LNG and oil tankers, among others. Most tankers carry no deck cranes and show little freeboard when heavily loaded.
These vessels are designed to transport a wide range of bulk liquids including water, wine, molasses, liquefied gas, and petroleum products.
The typical tanker hold is divided into tanks of varying shapes, sizes and fabrication, depending on the type of liquid to be carried. There usually are pumps inside the tanks for discharging cargo. Certain cargoes also may require cooling or heating systems.
The decisive criterion is the kind of cargo to be carried. Choice also will depend on vessel dimensions, power, range and operational zone.
