A center console sport-fishing boat is a motor vessel with an open deck designed for offshore big-game fishing.
Such craft also can be used for outings, relaxing off the beach, scuba diving, water skiing and other water sports.
These boats have an open deck without steps offering free access around the central console without obstacle. The high freeboard provides safety while fishing. There are rod holders and one or more lockers. The helm is often sheltered by a hard-top, a T-top or a Bimini.
Most such craft are made of laminated fiberglass, though some are aluminum. The motor, inboard or outboard, is usually powerful enough to reach relatively distant fishing areas quickly.
