The 580 is a big fast catamaran designed for the heavier pair, or comfortably three when cruising. The 580 is versatile, she can be sailed in a wide variety of conditions with ease and speed, real speed, gliding gracefully over the waves with sailors on double trapeze. The 580 is unique that she is the only catamaran in the Nacra program with swinging dagger boards, yielding all the advantages of sailing with dagger boards but being safe when cruising as the boards and the rudders will kick up when conditions demand. A unique Nacra feature!! Hulls are made of vinyl polyester sandwich form and the Nacra 580 has the largest volume forward of the front beam than any comparable catamaran, designed so she can drive through waves up and downwind without the fear of capsize. Mast spreader controls hold the mast perfectly giving you the ultimate power, but also means that the eight batten MNX mainsail can be tuned to reduce power when required. As with all other Nacra catamarans, the gear is Harken giving you assurance that it is made for life!! The 580 is fitted with the latest style booms allowing the mainsheet blocks to fit perfectly to give the sail shape you want and also the Harken traveller eases effortlessly giving you high pointing or deep reaching. You don’t have to spend much time looking at the lines of the 580 Sport and you realise just what this catamaran will do for you. Rig it and then you can go cruising or racing, with two or three of you, providing the perfect platform.
The 580 Sport will just eat up the miles and you will soon be well down the coast or race course. Large buoyant hulls, made of sandwich foam will give you the greatest strength for weight ration, the beams are large and fit into the moulded hulls giving you a truly stiff catamaran.

For the larger couple, with combined weights of over 170 kgs/370lbs. there is only one choicein catracing. The Nacra “One Design” . Other builders have tried but none have succeeded, the power of the the Nacra 20 is legend, yet she handles that power with grace and ease.
The vinyl polyester sandwich foam hulls give a very stiff strong platform, stiffness IS speed!! Good weight carrying capacity, large buoyant hulls are fairly flat on the bottom, so the platform lays high on the water keeping you dry and makes tacking really easy, self tacking rail with fully battened jib all help make this boat a joy to drive.
Clear class rules give this boat the real racing option and you are not sailing with your wallet, you have the same equipment as everyone else, your skills get you there!! The Nacra 20 one design is a perfect boat for fleet racing and also for long distance competition, when her pedigree really comes to the fore.
Double trapezing in just a few knots of breeze, the rig allows you to play the power upwind in stronger winds, the mast twists off , opening the leach, reducing the power of the gusts and then returns in the lulls keeping you trapezing at a far more constant position that any other catamaran. The powerful Pentax mainsail and the fully battened jib gets you to the top mark fast and first, then you launch the 25 sqm spinnaker from the chute and leave the rest standing!!
