VULKAN Composite shafts are especially suited for drive systems requiring low mass and/or where there is a great distance between shaft bearings. VULKAN composite shafts are used successfully world wide for marine propulsion and power generation, where reducing weight and eliminating intermediate shaft bearings were of high priority. They are currently in service on board fast ferries, patrol boats, work boats, yachts and stationary machinery. VULKAN Composite shafts are made from a carbon fiber reinforced synthetic material using the latest manufacturing techniques. The carbon fibers are wound in individual layers which are arranged in a criss-cross fashion with a specific winding angle relative to each other. This allows for a shaft that can transmit torque in either direction and through careful design the winding angle can be varied according to the desired shaft characteristics i.e. torsional and bending stiffnesses. The VULKAN Composite shaft utilizes bonded metal flange connections at both ends for connecting to the flanges in the drive train.

The Simplan seal is a mechanical seal for water-lubricated sterntubes for river vessels and seagoing vessels.
Simplan seals meet the highest standards set by the "Central Commission for Rhine Shipping" (European Waterways).
They are certified by Germanischer Lloyd, the American Bureau of Shipping, by Lloyds Register and by ClassNK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai).

The operational efficiency of a machine or plant is determined by, above all, the bearing quality at all rotating components. This applies in particular to the line-shafting of ship propulsion plants. The Simplex bearings were developed especially for this purpose as short, plain bearings. More than 21,000 have left our works to date.
Simplex bearings are characterized by a short shell length. Moreover, they can be precisely aligned to avoid edge loading. The running properties of the bearing metal have been optimized with a technically highly advanced bonding of bearing metal and shell. The vital lubrication of the bearing is safeguarded in the Simplex bearing at all times, even at low shaft speeds. Temperature sensing and monitoring systems are also supplied. Cooling systems are available for unfavourable operating conditions.

Using the latest CFD-methods, parameters were found, that enables a significant improvement in bollard pull and at the same time reducing the nozzle resistance at free running speeds.
The solution was found by designing the interior surface of the nozzle for maximum bollard pull, whereas the exterior surface was optimized for high free running efficiency. The nozzle design optimization was performed for the complete propulsor, i.e. including also the underwater part of the propulsion unit itself.

The application of a nozzle increases the thrust at relatively low ship speeds. Significant savings in fuel consumption can be achieved depending on the number of revolutions and the capacity of the engine. Nozzles are aerofoil shaped rings placed around the propeller.

The shaft bracket helps to keep the propeller shaft securely aligned. It must be designed in a way that makes the propeller run with a proper supply of water. It also has to be machined in a way that secure that the bearing within the bracket are be correctly positioned. A faulty bracket may lead to severe water supply problems, especially for boats capable of high speeds. This may result in cavitation, reduced speed and noise.
We design and produce or obtain both cast standard bronze brackets and specially welded brackets made from different steel qualities or aluminum. Bracket parts are made on demand for jointing and adaption by the boat builder.

FRANCE HELICES MANUFACTURES ALL TYPES OF BRACKETS. BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF ANGLES, FRANCE HELICES HAS DEVELOPED A WIDE RANGE OF PATTERNS WITH AN EXCLUSIVE MODIFICATION ANGLE SYSTEM IN ORDER TO ALLOW ANY ANGLE OF INCLINATION BEFORE CASTING. THE DESIGN HAS BEEN MADE TAKING IN CONSIDERATION THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS : MINIMUM DRAG, MINIMUM WEIGHT, STANDARD N.A.C.A. PROFILE, AIR INDUCTING (OPTION), NON CAVITATING PROFILE, HUB SIZED ACCORDING TO PROPELLER HUBS TO AVOID HYDRODYNAMIC DISTURBANCES.

Propshield is a marine product for the private and commercial boat owner alike. It is a lanolin based antifouling grease and can be used to prevent and limit both barnacles, electrolysis and oxidisation. Please note Propshield is no substitute for a good bonding system, the product will work in conjunction with your anodes to eradicate electrolysis. It is compatible with all types of stern gear and various materials from bronze propellers to painted surfaces found on outboard legs.
Propshield is a consumable product and needs to applied once a season or if your vessel is in the water all year round twice a year.

Nautix A7 TSPEED:
antifouling for propellers and Z-Drive.
|
|
Description:
Propspeed is an environmentally safe long life foul release coating which prevents the attachment of marine growth by low critical surface tension. Propspeed does not contain the conventional copper or tin compounds or any other toxic substances which might cause environmental pollution.
Typical Uses:
As a fouling preventative coating for boat's propellers and running gear. Because Propspeed does not contain copper it is suitable for use close to stern drive and rudder assemblies.
Limitations:
The Propspeed system is not recommended nor approved for use in aquaculture or contact with food products.

Steadily increasing market demands for larger and faster ships have
led to the development of CRP Azipod®, an innovative contra-rotating
propulsion system that enhances efficiency up to 15% compared to
other propulsion technologies.
Contra-rotating propulsion means that there are two propellers on
the same line rotating in opposite directions. With CRP Azipod®, a
steerable Azipod® unit is installed in place of a normal rudder, aligned
downstream of the main propeller. The Azipod® propeller takes
advantage of the rotative energy left in the slipstream of the forward
propeller, providing significant efficiency gains. CRP Azipod® combines
with most types of main propulsion.
