Rowing boats | Choosing the right rowing boat
There are three types of rowing boats to choose from depending on what kind of activity you’re planning to do. The boats are also called shells. Flat water shells are made for racing; they’re graceful and sleek and can only really be used on flat and calm water. They’re best suited for experienced rowers. Open water shells are fun boats for exercise. They can be used on rougher water compared to flat water shells. They’re light, fast and exciting to row....

How to choose this product
rowing-boat

There are two families of rowing craft. Flat-water shells are mainly used for competition. Open-water versions are larger and more stable, sometimes resembling traditional skiffs. The weight, length and width of racing shells is strictly regulated. Competition crews range from one to eight rowers, sometimes with a coxswain, or steersman.

Applications

These craft are used for competition, exercise or simply for outings at sea, on a lake or a river.

Technologies

Rowers use seats with wheels that slide along two tracks, increasing the amplitude of the oar stroke.

How to choose

A recreational model should be suitable for the water conditions and the rower's level of competence. The rower must constantly balance the boat in addition to rowing, making good technique indispensable. The many different open-water versions are easier to use.
