TechnologiesLarge ships and recreational vessels use floodlights of different size, range and design. Ships models take the form of industrial gear, sturdy but not very attractive. Most are stainless steel or aluminum, watertight and impact-resistant.
Certain models used on the largest ships are explosion-proof. Small spots use halogen bulbs, while the most powerful versions have krypton or xenon bulbs. They can be controlled from a panel mounted on a partition or an instrument console, or via a wireless remote control.
Some floodlights pivot through 360°, while others have a more limited range of movement. Ships spotlights are powered by 110 or 230 V alternating current, while those on leisure craft models use 12 or 24 V direct current.
