The ranges Racing Regatta of sail making Elvstrom Sails are addressed to projects where no concession is made with the performance.
1/ Determination of the profile.
The immense experiment of the Elvstrom group and the fluidity of information circulating between our research departments in Europe (France, Denmark, Italy, Spain etc...) you guarantee answers tested on more the share of the supports sailing today.
Those want to be centered on the facility of control of the power, through in particular of the round attacks and full partners with fine falls making it possible to control the power easily.
2/ Stability of profile.
In an unstable environment, the sail is subjected to constant variations of pressure. It is thus important not to see these variations resulting in a dissipation of deformation energy of roving.
Exclusive technology Epex answers this waiting.
The sail is carried out starting from composite membranes associating films mylar and fibers selected according to the size and the program of the boat.
These membranes are produced to measure according to a process patented by Elvstrom Sails, ensuring a perfect linearity of the fibers, which radiate very precisely according to the orientation of the mechanical constraints undergone by the sail.
For the most demanding projects, Elvstrom Sails in addition developed a die of production of membranes top-of-the-range, Epex Technology, controlled and dedicated to the Elvstrom sails.
Epex caratérise in particular by a vacuum lamination extrème, ensuring an unequalled management of the glues and a scrupulous respect of the orientation of fibers. A weight ratio/maximum capacity.

The Tides Marine Track is machined to size from Black UHMW-PE. This material has a very low coefficient of friction and is impact, abrasion and wear resistant.
The UHMW-PE is not affected by saltwater and is UV stable. It is available in seemless lengths to 65 feet / 19.8 mtr. and can be installed without going aloft or without drilling holes in the mast.
Each track shape is matched to each vessel's mast. The system will work with flat or round internal grooves as well as external track.
It is also suitable for composite and wooden masts using a simple clip attachment system.
Matching slides & batten receptacles are available in Stainless Steel or Brass

EXTENDABLE BOWSPRIT KIT CARBON OR ALLUMINIUM
(FOR ASYMMETRIC SAILS, GENNAKER, MPS, DRIFTER AND CODE "0").
Indispensable accessory for correcting use of any asymmetric sails. It facilitates rapid gybing and gives the gennaker more clear air, improving performance. It can be easly fitted on every yachts from 25' to 53' feet, by means of a stainless steel bow bracket, fixed on the deck to the extreme bow of the boat.
The inner end of the bowsprit, is fitted with a composite pole end fitting and in front of it a folding padeye shall be fastened to the deck. Our bowsprits, are build in anodized aluminium "Anticorodal 6060 TA16 -
UNI6063 9006" or Carbon, constructed in one piece aver male tooling using
unidirectional pre-preg standard modulus carbon and autoclave cured. The gennaker tackline running through the bowsprit, and leaving from outboard head, purposely rounded, is free to orient in all directions.

Established in 2004, our One Design business is dedicated to supplying production rigs, from high performance dinghies up to 60 foot performance cruisers. We apply the lessons learned at the grand prix end of the spectrum to create superb high performing consistent production rigs. Our tools are scientific analysis, sound knowledge and a passion for high performance yachting.
Southern Spars One Design is committed to producing high performance carbon rigs with an emphasis on value for money - spending money where it counts. The experience from 15 years of building the most successful custom carbon rigs in the world is being used in the manufacture and design of production One Design rigs.
|
|
Southern Spars has established its place as a world leader in the design, construction, installation and servicing of carbon-fibre masts, booms, composite components and EC6 rigging. Its rigs power a wide range of yachts, from one-design to grand prix racing, cruising yachts and superyachts.
Innovation, quality and an insatiable desire to produce what the customer requires runs through the company’s culture. These qualities have contributed to producing product for numerous race victories, including the Volvo Ocean Race, Vendee Globe, Sydney-Hobart, plus supplying rigs to some of the hottest one-design classes. The same design expertise, manufacturing methods, materials and components utilised on these racing rigs are applied to every rig built by Southern.
Southern’s operations extend to four corners of the world, with centres in New Zealand, USA, France, and South Africa

Carbon composites are known for their:
High fatigue tolerance
Stability under environmental exposure
Exceptional strength to weight
All these features make carbon composites attractive not just for the construction of mast tubes and fittings, but also for standing rigging.
Composite Rigging installed the first full set of Element C6 carbon composite rigging on the Farr 52 Georgia in Auckland in March 2003. This set includes all shrouds, jumpers, running backstays and headstay. These pieces now have over five years of service without incident.
Since that time EC6 has been installed on a variety of yachts ranging from 30’ sport boats to 50+ meter Megayachts.
The first set of EC6+ continuous rigging was installed on the Farr 60 Numbers in the spring of 2005. More recently the Open 60 Paprec-Virbac won the Barcelona doubled handed nonstop round the world race with EC6+ carbon shrouds. Post-race testing confirmed that there was no strength degradation. The rigging has been refurbished and reinstalled for the next event.

In order to support the growth and development of the Techno 293 OD and Hybrid classes, BIC Windsurf developed the One Design Rig package for use specifically by youth sailors on hybrid boards. This rig package has been designed to be raced in the widest wind range possible, representing the best possible compromise between light wind pumping performance and high wind planing performance. The key features of these rigs include:
A huge wind range: from 6 to 30 knots. By tuning the downhaul and outhaul, the sail can be rigged either very full with a tight leech, or very flat with an open leech.
A draft placement at approx. 40% from the front of the sail (freeride sails = 30% / sub-planing sails = 50%), offering the best compromise between lightwind performance and high wind control.
6 batten / 2 cam configuration for the best compromise between weight and performance.
A very stable profile for ease of use and control in the high winds.
A tack strap tensioner for maximum tuning range and power in light winds.
X-Ply reinforcements in critical areas, durable luff pocket material and webbing batten tensioners for ease of use and practicality in a club and racing environment. Though you may not win every race in all wind conditions, the goal of the One Design sails is to make sure that you have the tools to win the regatta!
