The Type FR is a fixed adjustable propeller, and is the best choice when you do not know which propeller is the best for your boat, when a suitable fixed propeller is hard to find, or when there are special requirements to the propeller.
The Type FR propeller is easily adjusted to optimum pitch using two wrenches. Adjusting the propeller to optimum pitch ensures a correct load on the motor, while also providing maximum power and fuel efficiency. In addition, the cost of a Type FR propeller is low compared to buying several fixed propellers in order to find the best one for your application. The Type FR propeller has approximately the same efficiency as a fixed propeller, in some cases even exceeding the fixed propeller's efficiency. When adjusted, it is used in the same way as a fixed propeller.
Fixed adjustable propellers are used for all types of boats, and usually have three or four blades. West Mekan calculates and produces these propellers in diameters of up to 1500mm, for speeds up to approximately 40 knots.
Fixed adjustable propellers with more or fewer blades can be specially designed.

complete range of 2-, 3- and 4-blade bronze propellers for inboard installations makes the choise easy. All propellers are available as Right Hand rotating propellers and some 4-blades also as Left Hand rotating propellers.
|
|
A range of controllable pitch propellers is available with diameters up to approximately 8500 mm and rated for engine outputs of up to 30 000 kW.
MAN Diesel's advanced propeller blade design and calculation methods exploit the latest hydrodynamic theories and tank test results to create a propeller design that ensures maximum efficiency while maintaining low noise and low vibration characteristics.
Complete propulsion packages can be tailored to meet specific requirements by using these propellers in association with MAN Diesel two-stroke or four-stroke diesel engines and, where applications demand, reduction gearboxes

The 2-blade Gori folding propeller is for sailing yachts fitted with engines up to approximately 60 HP (44 KW). It is available in 7 diameters from 11.5" to 18" for shaft installation and Sail-drive. RH and LH rotation.
|
|
The 3-blade Gori folding propeller marks a technological and functional leap forward in the development of propellers for sailboats. It is now possible for sailboats and motorsailers to gain the folding propeller's speed advantages under sail, combined with the fixed propeller's thrust capability when motoring.
The 3-blade Gori folding propeller was introduced on the market in 1994 and won the DAME award and HISWA award the same year, as the best new marine product.
|
|
The 4-blade Gori folding propeller has the same advantages, as the 3-blade Gori folding propeller with Overdrive. The 4-blade propeller has been developed for big sailing boats with engine over 150 hp.
Available in diameters from 23" and upto more than 31" for shaft installation.

By now everybody knows about the function of the folding blades propeller for sailing hulls is:
TO REDUCING THE PROPELLER DRAG DURING SAILING
(propeller drag is reduced about 90% compared to the traditional two fixed blades propeller).
The opening operation is automatic and is caused by the centrifugal force, increasing according to the engine revolution. In forward gear the pressure on the blades allows a performance equal to the fixed-blades propeller.
During this opening phase a quick acceleration of the engine is not advisable, and we recommend to make it
smoothly and gradually.
Even at low revolutions the centrifugal force is enough to opening the blades.
When the engine is off, a forward speed of 1 to 2 knots generates sufficient water pressure for the blades to close.
Reverse gear has always been the main problem for folding blades propellers.
Mainly due to the water pressure acting in opposition to the blades opening and the lack of a support point for the blades on the hub, only partially open, and the blades float, causing an unstable and insecure condition when maneuvering.
In order to avoid this inconvenience we studied and tested special blade sections that allow the blades to remain fully open during reverse operation with positive maneuvering results.

This type of propulsion system is particularly suited
to working vessels (tow-boats, fishing boats, river
bargers and pusher tugs) in the sea and on
rivers.
The nozzles can be of two types: "Fixed" or "Rotating"
(Steering Nozzles).
The advantages gained are the following:
- Reduction of propeller diameter;
- Reduction of propeller shaft and stern tube diameter;
- Reduction in vibrations, expecially in the wider stern as the nozzle regulates the water flow; - Reduction in ship's pitching when in rough waters;
- Increase in the propeller thrust to the tow and to the Bollard-Pull;
- Possible increase of ship speed by approx. 15%;
- Better performance from heavily loaded propellers, especially in shallow water;
- At the same conditions of speed, trawler work, Bollard-Pull, need 30% less power engine;
- The smaller engine cost, the reduction of fuel consuption, the high-performance of trasmission allow to recover the investiment within one or two years.

Fully machined Inboard propellers by Acme have revolutionized the propeller manufacturing industry. Acme's superior design, coupled with the 100% CNC process, positions Acme Propellers as the most efficient and consistently smooth performers in the world. Acme Inboard Propellers are engineered for quicker plane times, improved speeds and lower fuel consumption. However, the best news is that, with Acme, superior performance is NOT based on "the luck of the draw". Accuracy is built into the design and manufacturing process. This means that you will spend less time and money, testing and tuning, and more time with your boat in the water and a smile on your face.
All Acme Propellers are cast in our own North American foundry and then 100% CNC machined in one of our two QS-9000 manufacturing facilities.
Computer Numerically Controlled milling machines offer the most accurate and consistent means for removing metal and finishing a propeller to its correct dimensions. This method of production, relative to hand-finished, translates into Acme Propeller perfection and the elimination of one big variable in boat performance.
Acme is currently producing propellers up to 48 ” in diameter. Contact us to see if we have the perfect propeller for your boat and application.
