The pollution control catamaran is a multihull craft equipped to fight marine pollution.
Pollution control catamarans counter pollution in the marine environment due to spills or from other sources. They also are used to test the water's pH, chlorine content, temperature, conductivity and oxygen content, etc.
Pollution control catamarans often have holding tanks to store pollutants during cleanup operations. They have skimmers, booms and containment devices to avoid the spread of contaminants. Skimmers vary in their capabilities and functions.
The catamaran should be large enough to carry sufficient pollution control equipment, but remain small enough to ensure maneuverability.
