The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
The outboard tender with a small motor may have an inflatable, rigid or rigid inflatable hull. It offers the utility of a powered tender while remaining easy to handle out of the water.
These tenders are preferable to rowed models above a certain size or in strong currents.
Light, low-horsepower motors are easy to handle and facilitate stowing the tender. Plastic propellers and integrated fuel tanks instead of a separate gas can are other optional benefits of small size. Larger tenders require standard outboards of 20 hp or more.
Tender size will determine the range of suitable motors, often indicated by the manufacturer. Operating weight must be considered as a function of stowage, be it deck or davit.
