Alfa Laval fuel oil filter
Automatic filters designed specifically for full flow filtering of lubrificating oils for trunk piston and crosshead engines and full-flow filtration of the heavy fuel oils used in modern two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines.
Fuel oil filter
The F type range of Alfa laval automatic fuel oil filter systems provides effective full-flow filtration of fuel oil (FO), heavy fuel oil (HFO) and marine diesel oils (MDO) up to 700 cSt/50°C. These fuels are widely used in modern two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines, and the quality and cleanliness of such fuel has an important influence on engine efficiency, fuel consumption, reliability and service life.
This range of automatic fuel oil filter systems only requires very limited investment yet helps ensure reliable engine operation, along with peace of mind for those dependent on the engine working as intended. The robust, space-saving design makes these units easy to install as well as to retrofit as upgrades to existing installations.
These units use fuel oil that has already been filtered to backflush the filters, doing away with any need for a compressed air supply. This backflushed oil is then cleaned by refiltration in a special filter-equipped diversion chamber (which also uses the same backflushing principle) before being recirculated into the system. This diversion chamber acts as an automatic maintenance-free sludge treatment system, collecting and concentrating the particles backflushed from the full-flow chamber and the subsequent cleaning process into a concentrate sludge.

Compact and space saving lube oil filters for full flow filtering lubricating oils in truck piston and crosshead engines.
Alfa Laval automatic lube oil filter systems are designed specifically for full-flow filtering of the lubricating oils used in trunk piston and crosshead engines. This extremely effective filtering prevents contaminants from entering sensitive parts of the engine, thus reducing engine wear and boosting durability. The compact, space-saving design makes them easy to install and to retrofit as upgrades to existing installations.
There are three main types of Alfa Laval lube oil filter, all with an automatic backflushing system. The X type is designed for use with crosshead engines, the T type for use with trunk piston engines and the CCU (Combined Cleaning Unit) type for use with trunk piston engines of up to 5,000 kW in capacity.

CJC%u2122 Blue Baleen OilAbsorb 38/100 Multistay is a bilge water polishing system with 8 inserts fitted in two parallel 38/100 housings. On request, the Multistay system is available with more than two housings, custom-made for the application.
The specially developed and patent pending CJC%u2122 Blue Baleen OilAbsorb Inserts (OAI) are unique and makes the system act as a polishing filter, absorbing oil to values below 5 ppm. This guarantees that legal requirements are always met, operational costs are reduced and environmental standards are kept high.
From the bilge water tank, water flows to an oily bilge water separator (15 ppm), before entering the CJC%u2122 OilAbsorb System.
The filter is used for polishing of bilge water or industrial process and wastewater, and is available with or without centrifugal pump and drip pan.
The typical installation onboard ships is between separator and monitor.

By locating the inlet and outlets slightly above the separation chamber the resulting small hydrostatic pressure makes Lipator and Lipatomat Grease Separators the only units of their kind whose separation efficiency is completely unaffected by vessels movement and vibration. The grease accumulates in the upper cone whilst the sediment drops to the lower cone. The heating element located in the upper cone ensures the grease remains liquid. Clean water passes freely and continuously through the grease separator. Accumulated sediment and grease is drained to independent collecting barrels fitted with level sensors which provide indication to the operator when they need to be emptied or replaced with exchange units. Grease and Sediment lift pumps as well as treated water lift station, can also be integrated into the system depending on installation requirements aboard the vessel.

Principles and function
This type of grease trap operates purely mechanically according to the gravity principle (density difference), i.e. heavy substances in the waste water precipitate and light substances, such as for example animal oils and fats, rise to the surface of the water. The sediments in the sludge trap and the grease layer are destroyed by the high pressure jet of the special orbital cleaning head operating at up to 175 bar and are homogenised in order to be rendered pumpable. Depending on the location, the separator content can be sucked through a fixed
pipeline (to be provided by the user) or can be removed by a disposal pump, mounted to the grease trap (optional item).
Product advantages
- Different shapes
- Technical design as per requirements
|
|
Principles and Function
This type of grease trap is fully resistant against sea movement. The grease accumulates in the upper cone, the sludge drops to the lower cone. The grease is maintained liquid by heating the upper cone. The cleaned water drains freely and continuously through grease trap.
The accumulated sludge and grease is drained to collecting tank.
Product advantages
- 90 % of the total capacity (viz. water) need not be disposed, which leads to significant reduction of disposal costs as well as fresh water consumption
- No grease deposits at inside walls due to short stay in separator
- Disposal without operation interruption.
|
|
Grease separators are suitable for ships of all sizes. Units range from simple manually operated ones to advanced and fully automatic ones.
Grease separators are easily operated with low maintenance. Special grease traps can be connected to vacuum piping.
