The Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (Smart ODME)has been designed to provide means of monitoring, recording and controlling the ballast discharge inaccordance with the requirements of MEPC 108(49). Discharge limits are set at 30 Litres per nautical mile and atotal discharge expressed as a proportion of the previouscargo for dirty ballast. The requirements of the MARPOL Convention are that all oiltankers with a gross tonnage of 150 GRT and above musthave an oil discharge monitoring and control system installed, incorporating an approved oil content meter, witha starting interlock and an automatic overboard valvecontrol system. The Smart ODME includes all componentsrequired to meet MEPC 108(49) and is designed for easeof installation and maintenance. The requirements in IMO Resolution MEPC 108(49) apply totankers with a date of keel laying or equivalent stage ofconstruction of 1st of January 2005 or later.

The OCD CM is the result of market research and development of new technologies to produce a monitor that exceeds the existing standards and meets the requirements requested by customers and operators worldwide. The OCD CM has been specifically designed to eliminate the effects that cause false instrument alarms where the water contains high levels of solid particulates. In particular the unit has been designed to ignore the presence of iron oxide, of which most bilges have a plentiful supply, and output only the true oil concentration. All this in a package that is 25% the size of the OCD 2M. The OCD CM also has built in diagnostic features and the ability to show the inspectors if the software has been tampered with. Additionally the unit runs through a self check diagnostic routine on power-up that ensures all parameters are within limits and activates the alarm relays at their prescribed set points. All user adjustable parameters are accessed from an easy to use pushbutton menu from the front of the unit.

With the Marinfloc White Box System, you can be confident that no water with oil content exceeding national or international requirements, where applicable, is accidentally pumped overboard.
The system works online and monitors the oil content in the water from, for example, your oily water seperator or bilge water cleaning system. When the water from either of these systems is clean enough for discharge, a valve is opened and the water is pumped overboard. The start- and stop-time of the discharge, the volume, the ship's position and the oil content over the discharge cycle is recorded and stored in the system.

Remote Oil Spill Detection & Alarm System
Monitoring and detecting oil spills as they occur in real-time accelerates response time – thus substantially reducing cleanup/remediation costs and potential damage to the environment. Building on 60 years of sensor/systems innovation, InterOcean Systems Inc has developed the optimum solution for this requirement. Slick Sleuth™ is a highly effective, cost-saving system which is easy to install and is totally autonomous. Because the optics-based oil detection sensor is mounted above the water, maintenance and downtime are virtually eliminated. There is no bio-fouling, leaking, exposure to pollutants or debris, mooring hassles, or other liabilities often associated with in-water sensor packages.
Slick Sleuth™ is an automated, optical (non-contact), oil-on-water sensor system that remotely alerts users to the presence of oil as an early warning mechanism (not unlike a ´smoke alarm´ for oil spills). If oil is detected, the system generates signal output for real-time alarm, computer display, and auto-dial phone alert. The signal may also be used to actuate (switch open/close) valves, a feature often used in industrial application to prevent (what every environmental manager fears) discharge of polluted oil-laden outfall into the environment from a facilities retention ponds, waterways, outfalls, sumps, etc...
Slick Sleuth™ is effective for spill monitoring in a wide array of applications, including offshore, ports and harbors,industrial/petrochemical, power plants, manufacturing facilities, intake protection, protection of sensitive habitats, etc...

The Bilge Overboard Security System (Increased Assurance Discharge Monitoring System, IADMS), from Rivertrace Engineering Ltd, has been developed out of repeated industry requests to provide a failsafe method of prevention against illegal oil discharge to sea.
Illegal discharges involving “Magic Pipes” and ‘Empty’ Oily Water Separators are seen as a major contributor to pollution of the seas and vessels are under increasing scrutiny by Port State Control (PSC) Surveyors globally.
The system is primarily designed to prevent illegal oily water discharge to sea and will record if one has taken place.
Equipment supplied under MEPC 107(49) has a degree of inbuilt increased assurance in that separator status is recorded along with time and date and it should not be possible for clean water to be used when in the discharge cycle, but even this record and control cannot prevent the “Magic Pipe” type of discharge.
For a system to be effective, all aspects of the discharge process should be monitored and recorded. The IADMS achieves this utilizing the separator control, oil content output, flow rate and cumulative flow through the discharge pipe and in addition records the ships GPS position, speed and track.
