We propose several options for anti-pollution barriers: anchored floating, hanging or emergency floating. ANCHORED FLOATING BARRIERS are used as protection in access channels.
|
|
POLLUGUARD inflatable anti-pollution booms allow the oil spills withholding.
Our booms can, especially in the case of systems set in units roughly 200 meters long, support a stress of safety factor 3, in seas under Force 9 conditions (wind : 90 km/h - swell : 7 meters, and 6 knots streams).
We created several ranges differentiated by their strength, ranging from 5.000 to 60.000 daN
|
|
|
EMERGENCY FLOATING BARRIERS are found on quaysides, on rollers to allow rapid unrolling into the water in the event of leakages of oily substances or other pollutants.

Apart from the direct environmental impact, the financial and public relations implications associated with an unforeseen pollution incident can be extremely damaging.
It is estimated that over 30 million gallons of oil is leaked from ships during normal operations in ports and harbours every year more than three times the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Machinery failure and human error are the major contributing factors. According to industry data, leakages of five to 1,000 tons have dropped dramatically in the last few years, but those under five tons have eased only marginally.
Swift initial containment response not only reduces environmental impact but also demonstrates that the responsible company or organisation has effectively planned to mitigate the risks associated with such unfortunate but inevitable incidents.
Over 80% of reported oil spills occur within port and harbour areas. However, the majority are small in size and result from normal operations such as loading and bunkering (MPCU 1997).
Sea Spill, a launchable emergency response containment system, has been specifically designed to provide a cost effective solution to these issues Launched from Restech range of PLT maxi and mini pneumatic systems, with extended range capabilities offered by SeaSam, the Sea Spill is effective even in strong wind and rough sea states.

Oil spill burning.Elastec/American Marine is the largest manufacturer of oil spill equipment in the United States providing equipment to more than 40 countries around the world. Elastec/American Marine is also a leader in the design and manufacture of fire boom. In the mid 1980's we designed the first commercial Fireboom available capable of containing burning oil at 2000° F. This was the first (practical and successful) boom that allowed in-situ burning of oil spills on water. With more than decade of experience, Elastec/American Marine is the only company in the world with fire boom that has been used successfully during actual, at sea, in-situ burns of crude oil. The burns, include a test burn off the coast of Spitsbergen, Norway (1988), spillage from Exxon Valdez (1989) involvement with experimental burns off Newfoundland, Canada (1993) United Kingdom Southampton test burn (1996). To date we have sold more 37,000 feet of fireboom to customers around the world.

Mavi Deniz Self Inflatable Flash Boom is rapid deployment boom makes it suitable for use in a wide variety of conditions from protected water to moderate ocean.
Self Inflatable Flash Boom is a rapidly self-inflating, rapid response emergency deployment curtain type boom. The flotation chamber is cylindrical, and retains its shape and stability by incorporating a series of semi-rigid, lightweight hoops spaced on equal intervals throughout the length of the boom.
It is deployed from containers or from a boat deck. Self-Inflating Flash boom will deploy faster than any other air inflatable boom in the world.
Rugged one-way inflation check valves are spaced along the top of the flotation chamber. Simple tension during deployment causes the boom to expand and automatically self-inflate.

The most efficient method for containing oil spills when rapid deployment and long lengths of boom are needed. Airmax is compact for greater storage on boom reels making it easy and fast to deploy and retrieve with a minimum amount of manpower. High buoyancy to weight ratio provides excellent wave conformance in rough seas and strong current and with its isolated chambers remains effective if some are damaged or deflated. Models available are River, Harbor, Offshore and Deep Sea.

Oil booms are used to circle and isolate an oil spill on water or to shield specific areas against pollution. The oil booms may be used actively to limit and concentrate the spill or passively by redirecting the spill to another area. There is a number of different types of oil boom available and how you chose the right type is depending on several factors. The ideal solution for open ocean conditions may not be as suitable for rapid response in a narrow harbour area. The likelihood of an accident, available storage capacity and personnel are other critical factors.

|
Emergency Booms are thought to be deployed in cases of emergencies for 2-3 weeks afterwards cleaned and stored.

Mavi Deniz AirBoom’s high-buoyancy makes it suitable for use in a wide variety of conditions from sheltered water to open ocean waves.
AirBoom, is a pressure inflatable boom which uses air for buoyancy. Each AirBoom section length is segmented into individual inflatable chambers by way of internal bulkheads. This ensures that the boom will maintain positive buoyancy and continue to float in the event of any damage. Booms feature simple, rapid inflation, and high buoyancy to weight ratios for use in waves and demanding conditions. AirBoom is also available with solid foam floatation sections along the top of the boom to keep it afloat should one of the chambers damage or deflate. Our most popular inflatable boom design.
Air Boom is available in four different models. ( River, Harbor, Offshore and Deep Sea )
AirBoom is compact for greater storage on boom reels making it easy and fast to deploy and retrieve with a minimum amount of manpower.
AirBoom can be inflated using handheld or backpack inflation blowers, or with integrated hydraulic blowers stand alone or mounted on a boom storage and deployment reel.

Description – Mavi Deniz Oil Sorbent Booms are a cost effective way of recovering small and medium sized oil / chemicals spills from streams, lagoons, settlement ponds, harbors, rivers, or for shoreline protection. They are easily deployed and towed, and different sizes are available for a variety of marine and industrial applications. Sorbent Booms include clips to form a barrier of any length. Connectors at each end allow the linking together of several booms to provide a continuous chain of protection, permitting containment and absorption of a spill. This oil absorbent boom may be left deployed almost indefinitely and does not allow the oil to pass outside the boomed area. Sorbent Booms can be used between two small boats with a U or J form and the petroleum waste on the sea surface can be easily collected and absorbed.

Tidal Barrier is a special purpose oil spill containment boom for use in shallow water environments. It features a water ballasted skirt, consisting of two bladders joined by a perforated bulkhead, which makes this boom useful on shorelines, coastal marshes, beaches and swamps. It is especially effective in areas subject to tidal fluctuations.
The freeboard is provided by an inflatable (or foam filled) buoyancy chamber, which allows the boom to function like conventional curtain booms in deeper water.
The water ballasted skirt causes the boom to rest on the bottom in shallow water and creates a seal to prevent the intrusion of oil with an incoming tide, or to prevent contained oil from escaping with an outgoing tide.
Each section of Tidal Barrier is equipped with two air inflation valves and two water fill/drain fittings.
