Combine a Cougar 23 MTR and a pair of Mercury 300X's and get ready. This combination is a high performance boaters dream. Here is how this combination plays out. Getting to the ramp is easy because this package is light and maneuverable, and the Cougar MTR Trailer fits the 23 perfectly. Back it in and start the engines. Notice no smoke from the 300 X's. Oil injection and computers are magic. Idle away through the no wake zones with no sputtering and coughing from the engines or the passengers, and the Cougar tracks beautifully at low speeds.
Man, this is nice. Out of the no wake zone, so time to give the throttle a poke. Quiet smooth power and fantastic throttle response. Push on the throttles a little more, trim the motors to about 4 on the mechanic trim gauge, lift the engines on the jacks and notice 100 mph rush buy in seconds. This is sweet. Lets push the Cougar to top speed so right up on the lifts, a little more trim and 110 mph flashes by on the speedometer with more to come. The hull tracks dead straight and cuts through the rough stuff without a flex or groan and the ride is plush and calm, which always surprises the passengers. Back off the gas and come down off plane and the motors settle in to a smooth 800 RPM idle. Like we said, a high performance boaters dream.
