Why should you select SHIPMASTER?
Retrofits: Typically older vessels have automation systems
based on old technology and spare parts are rapidly becoming
scarce and expensive if not obsolete. A system failure can be
very costly. Apart from having a modern user interface and
advanced system capabilities our system is based on standard
PC components giving our customers access to spare parts at
very low prices with great availability.

The Mega-Guard Cargo Control and Monitoring System fully automates the loading and unloading of Product Tankers and Chemical Carriers. Operator Workstations provide high resolution color graphic mimic overviews of cargo and ballast systems. Cargo pumps and valves are automatically controlled during loading and unloading of the tanker.
Operator Workstations
The cargo console is typically equipped with two or three Operator Workstations. The complete handling of the cargo and the ballast is executed from these Workstations.
Graphic mimic pages on the TFT Screen provide a detailed overview of the cargo and ballast tanks. A pump e.g., can be selected on the Workstation by pointing the pump with the Trackball. A pop-up menu appears and now the pump can be started and the required speed can be selected.
Operator Workstations can be delivered with Loading Computer software in order to alculate the shear forces and bending moments, the actual/ required stability and the damage stability calculations.

Originally developed as a loading computer, Onboard-NAPA incorporates a wide range of features for loading calculations, hydrostatics, intact stability and longitudinal strength. Onboard-NAPA, however, is actually a much more versatile system than the average loading computer complying with the statutory regulations. Onboard-NAPA%u2019s strength lies in its advanced and unrivalled features for damage stability and decision support %u2013 features that make the system ideal for fast analysis of ship stability in emergency conditions, including grounding. This is why numerous well-known ship owners and operators rely on Onboard-NAPA.
The development of Onboard-NAPA was initiated in the early 1990s at Napa Ltd. The system has gained wide recognition among ship owners and operators in a relatively short time. During 1996, being the first year of active sales promotion of the system, some 40 installations were made. Today, Onboard-NAPA is being used onboard almost 900 ships, among them the world%u2019s most prestigious cruise liners.
The system is being applied widely to enhance ship safety, and it holds a track record of several real-life salvage operations involving a grounded ship. In these cases, Onboard-NAPA ensured the ship%u2019s safe refloating in a way that prevented further damage to the ship and averted danger to its crew. Straddle Carrier NSC T
- With mechanical power transmission drive
- The Straddle for every terminal
- Easy to maintain as a result of its simple mechanic power train
- High performance at low consumption
Based on Noell's single engine concept, the NSC T is driven by a power train consisting of a smooth shifting torque converter gearbox with appended differential gear and angular gears, leading the power via cardan shafts down to the wheels. The four driven wheels, equipped with liquid cooled wet disc brakes, provide perfect traction under any operating conditions. The hoist system is identical to the one for the NSC H model, consisting of a single axial piston pump and motor combination, controlled via the CAN-bus system to achieve the best efficiency.
With these systems, the NSC T model is able to travel at speeds of up to 28 km/h and hoist at speeds of up to 24 m/min. Weights up to 60 tons can be carried (in twin lift mode). Power train components from renowned German suppliers ensure long life and durability, whilst the reliable CREON control system offers all the controls and diagnostic functions expected from a modern machine.

Straddle Carrier NSC H:
- With full hydrostatic drive
- The long-term proven Straddle for high performance terminals
- Smooth and stepless operation due to its electronically controlled hydrostatic drive system
- Outstanding inching ability for efficient container grabbing
By means of a closed centre hydraulic circuit, the NSC H moves smoothly and precisely, from creep speeds to 30km/h, even when fully loaded. With the high efficiency factor arising from the hydrostatic system, fuel consumption is significantly lowered. In addition, the elimination of gears and axles minimizes the number of parts subject to wear and maintenance. The four driven wheels, equipped with liquid cooled wet disc brakes, always work with full control, even on slippery ground. Anti-slip and anti-blocking functions ensure best grip and safe driving control in any conditions, whilst hydrostatic braking conserves the mechanical components of the brakes. Automatic speed limiters help to keep this Straddle operating safely in dangerous conditions. Automatic positioning of the spreader onto containers is facilitated by the optional automatic spreader positioning system via control of the hydrostatic drive system (or longshift) and the sideshift system. The hoist system is identical to the NSC T model, consisting of a single axial piston pump and combination, controlled via the CAN-bus system to achieve the best efficiency and hoist speeds up to 24 m/min. The whole system is designed to handle loads of up to 60 tons.

Straddle Carrier NSC E:
- With variable electric AC drive
- The Straddle which offers the highest standards in future container handling in regard to the environment
- Best-in-class for economic efficiency with unrivalled low levels of consumption, low emissions and low noise levels
- Robotically-precise operation, achieved by its 4-quadrant AC drive and hoist system
Direct drives in the travel and hoist system virtually eliminate all kinds of gears and couplings, reducing maintenance and emissions of noise and lubricants. Moreover, the generative effect of the patented wheel hub drives and the hoist motor feed back energy into the system when reducing speed or lowering the spreader. This energy is reused for powering other systems, thus further saving fuel and reducing emissions while operating the carrier.
The direct drives on the wheels have the effect of lowering the centre of gravity on these Straddles. This, combined with intelligent assistance in stability control of the CAN-bus system (CREON) ensures safe operation under any conditions. The open-plan CAN-bus links all active components and provides data for troubleshooting and statistics when requested.

Sprinter Carrier:
The Noell Sprinter Carrier is designed for stacking capacity of 1 over 1 containers 9'6" high. This carrier is extremely flexible and reaches high travelling speeds. The major reason for implementing Sprinter Carriers is the flexibility provided through this concept. Operations with Sprinters open the possibility of interim storage of containers for terminals, where the distances between waterfront, stacking area and warehouses are long. The Sprinter Concept is in addition perfect for terminals, where operations foresee the reloading of containers to other means of transport.
Moreover, it offers all advantages of the Noell Straddle Carrier like low fuel consumption, economic efficiency, low noise level etc. Noell offers the Sprinter Carrier in diesel-electro and hydraulic version. The Noell Sprinter Carrier is available in 6 and 8 wheeler versions, while Noell is currently developing on the extension of the Noell Sprinter Carrier fleet.

The fastest choice for medium-size terminals handling between 100,000 and 4,000,000 TEU a year is a systems based on straddle carriers. The straddle carriers functions as a independent system.
For high performance advanced terminals the enhanced Kalmar Edrive® ESC range offers now lower operating costs, stronger sideframe for continuous twinlift operation and modular drive system with direct driven wheel hubs. The new W-type front cabin together with Smoothlift hoist system and rigid frame ensures excellent visibility and driver comfort which makes the enhanced Edrive® the ultimate driver's machine. Engine and cabin are positioned to the furthest points at top frame for maximum driver comfort.

Konecranes Straddle Carriers can stack containers up to four high (4 high = one over three containers), and they are also suitable for the loading and unloading of lorries and railway cars. The devices are equipped for the installation of telescope spreaders for single, twin or long-twin operation. Handling of one container in a twin-lift position, for example during a reefer operation, is also possible.
The straddle carriers are designed utilizing modular standard components, and the customer can choose between either a diesel-hydraulic (HS) or a diesel-electric (DE) drive concept.
