Lycra tops are protection garments for the torso and sometimes the arms (long-sleeve models). They are made of lycra (also called spandex or elasthane), a comfortable and warm material, ideal for water-sports.
Lycra tops can be used as main garments or as under-garments. They are ideal for users of small sail-crafts, experienced skippers in cold areas or seasons, kayakers, etc.
Lycra® is a textile fiber derived from polyurethane. It is also referred to as elasthane, or Spandex.
More supple, elastic and resistant than latex, lycra has excellent thermal properties.
It returns to its original shape even after being considerably stretched, and dries very rapidly.
Cuts exist for men, women and children. They can have long- or short-sleeves. Some are made of breathable material.
Design, look and thermal protection are the main elements to consider.
