Luxury yachts are motor-boats over 15 meters long with top-quality live-aboard amenities. Fuel consumption may be considerable.
Luxury yachts are mostly used for cruising. Chartering companies often offer them for rental.
Luxury yachts can be made of steel, aluminum or composite materials, as any motor-yacht.
The interior areas are frequently conceived and decorated by famous designers. Amenities are numerous and lavish: jacuzzi, gym, home cinema, etc.
The suite-style cabins are few so as to preserve intimacy, and have their own bathroom, air-conditioning system, and view of the sea.
Such yachts can have planing hulls (high-speeds, limited energy autonomy) or displacement hulls (slower speeds, but more autonomy and lower fuel costs). Semi-displacement hulls are a good compromise between these options.
Luxury yachts are sold either as series-produced vessels or as fully customizable crafts. Latter models are of course much more expensive.
Living nearby the construction site can be enormously advantageous in terms of following building progress.
Establish a detailed scope statement specifying the type of navigation and determining the ideal balance between speed, consumption and autonomy.
Some luxury yachts may be operated by the owner and his/her family. Large vessels may require a professional crew.
