A ketch is a sailboat with two masts, a mainmast forward and a shorter mizzen mast aft (but forward of the rudder post).
The ketch can be used for coasting or blue-water sailing.
A ketch has two masts. The mainmast holds the mainsail. Headsails (jibs and staysail) are suspended from stays forward of the mainmast. The mizzen mast holds the mizzen sail. Traditional ketches are built of wood, though other materials also are commonly used.
Choice will depend on size, sail plan, cabins, auxiliary engine, etc.
