In designing the engines, consideration was given to their intensive use and to the desirability of easy and simple maintenance. These engines feature individual cylinder heads and wide inspection doors in the block, which makes access to the inside parts of the engine easy, and shortens the service time during maintenance and repair processes.
This series comprises six and eight cylinder in-line engines as well as twelve and sixteen cylinder 60º V-bank engines.

The 6/8 cylinder heads separately are light enough to be lifted by one person, yet extremely strong. Day to day checks can be carried out via ergonomic access points (front mounted), like the oil dipstick, oil filler, fuel filter, cooling water filling and oil filling.
