The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
A gravity davit holds small boats along the sides of a ship, and launches them using gravity.
These devices are used to launch and retrieve small boats over the side of a ship. They can be pivoting, sliding or suspended.
Such davits consist of one or more metal or wooden arms mounted along a ship's railing. They use the force of gravity to lower a small boat to the water. Launching speed is controlled by a manual, electric, pneumatic or hydraulic winch.
Choice will depend on the size and weight of the boat to be handled.
