Recreation island in the Hout-habour, Amsterdam
In the Amsterdam Hout-harbour the municipality has planned to dredge 8 residential islands. On these islands 950 houses will be built and mooring facilities will be created for 70 residential floating houses. The careful use of space results in innovative building. FDN has been involved in creating a recreational island in the harbour and also a floating road from the island to the existing constant pier for tankers. The floating road is designed using concrete pontoons filled with polystyrene.
The International Marine Floatation System (IMF) utilizes a propietary patented connection system first designed for use in the Aquaculture industry with its high requirement for performance in rough water. Floating sections are designed to accomodate a range of weight loads from public access foot traffic to vehicular traffic.
