How to choose this product

A flatwater kayak can be used on lakes, rivers and other relatively calm inland waters. Its very configuration makes it unsuitable in chop and waves. However, certain models can be used in both placid and rough water.

Applications

Competition and recreational models are easily distinguished by their length-to-width ratio. The longer and narrower the kayak, the faster and less stable it is. Such craft are particularly suited for competition.

Technologies

These kayaks are quite narrow and rigid, measuring between four and six meters. Recreational models are wider, with a flatter hull to increase stability. Their length tends toward the short end of the range. Racing versions are very narrow, with a sharp, V-shaped hull.

How to choose

The range of models is extensive. Choose the one best suited to your needs. Renting different types before buying can help narrow the choice.
