The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
An equipped tender, usually a rigid inflatable, is fitted with steering console, seats or other features not found in a basic tender.
These tenders generally fulfill several functions in addition to boat-shore liaison. A jockey seat facilitates high-speed runs for towing sports. A hardtop or Bimini top offers shade during beach picnics, while comfortable seats are appreciated by VIP passengers. Pole holders make fishing easier and more enjoyable.
The great majority of equipped tenders are rigid inflatables of PVC, Hypalon or vinyl. Consoles, hard tops and seats are odd-side molded in gelcoated polyester laminate. Consoles, center or offset (for easier forward access), can be fitted with a steering wheel and even electronic instruments. UV- and water-resistant materials are used for seats and sundeck cushions.
A wide range of options is available. Luxury yacht tenders may have expensive leather seats. Soft or hardtops and cushions are welcome additions for picnicking, gunkholing or simply lazing around. Other possibilities include a small cabin, a refrigerator and on-deck cooking gear.
