Wilh 4 valves per cylinder, the BY range's dual air intake ports provide an optimised fuel/air mix that results in high torque across the power band and further improves engine efficiency. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) managed second-generation common rail fuel injection also gives outstanding fuel economy.

The design evolution within Yanmar's technology creates engines which not only perform, but also last and last. That's our mission. This has led to a worldwide reputation for unsurpassed reliability. These engines are the most compact and powerful in their class. The 24-valve overhead cam valve train is the main driver of this success. And, not to forget, the water cooled wastegated turbocharger, intercooler and fuel cooler, which maintain peak performance.

Yanmar has been a leading diesel engine manufacturer since 1912, producing from fuel injection equipment to marine gear (for most diesel-driven machinery, on land and sea. Yanmar diesel engines are specially developed to serve marine applications, giving customers the most reliable propulsion systems available on the market.

Yanmar's engines last and last. They are designed and built to do just that. Every detail is taken Into account. Take for instance the stainless steel exhaust/water mixing elbow: a guarantee for long life and corrosion resistance. This tough engine is built to perform. The turbocharger with wastegate and inlercooler improves acceleration on the higher output model even further. This is best-in-dass diesel power from Yanmar.

Reliability, simplicity and durability
from more cubic inches and lower RPM.
High rpm, high performance throw-away
diesels have their place in planing pleasure
craft that rarely get too far from the local yacht
club. But why put one of these engines, even
a derated version, in your commercial boat or
long range cruising yacht? These vessels need
a real, heavy duty diesel that produces high, prop
twisting torque at a rational rpm. They need a
conservatively rated engine with long life features
like the L1276A2.
A commercial heritage
Initially designed for Alaskan fishermen,
Luggers have always been dependable.
Used as prime movers on Northern Lights
marine generator sets, they are well known by
commercial and pleasure craft owners for long
life and smooth, quiet operation. Today,
electronic fuel injected engines
like this L1276A2 are adding US
EPA Tier II compliance to Lugger’s
reputation for reliability, simplicity
and durability.

Yanmar's engines lasl and last. They are designed and built to do just that. Every detail is taken into account. The 6LY2 has super hard ceramic push rod tappets which keep wear to a minimum. And the whole series has stainless steel exhaus/water mixing elbows' a guarantee for long life and corrosion resistance.
|
|
|
At Yanmar, we make our engines easily accessible. A double oil dipstick on port and starboard side is standard. The 6LY3 also has replaceable dry cylinder liners, which means low cost engine overhauls. The buil-in fuel-priming pump also improves airbleeding and the oil filter with built-in oil drain reservoir on top makes it more easily accessible.
