Why should cruising sails be second-class citizens? Why shouldn't a good cruising sail be able to do more than go up and down and remain intact as a triangle? Quantum believes that cruising sails are an even more demanding design challenge, and demand the most sophisticated solutions:
- They must be rugged, reliable, and easy to maintain.
- They must work in all conditions with a minimum of effort.
- They should put us in control instead of the elements, helping to contain heel and minimize helm.
- Above all, they should make our boat sail, bringing us the sheer pleasure of our sport.
We have a more demanding definition of performance...At Quantum, every cruising sail is engineered to bring lasting joy.

These sails utilize the very latest in materials, construction, materials and design theory as they apply to our Performance Cruising sails.
The Performance Cruise line utilizes laminate fabrics that are designed specifically for more rugged use than racing fabrics. As a whole, they generally will have single or double-sided taffetas, which act to protect the directional, load bearing scrim and film from chafe, U.V. and general wear and tear. These fabric styles come in a variety of yarn types including: polyester, Pentex and Spectra, which covers the gamut of cost and efficiency. Your Neil Pryde agent will help you to navigate you through the myriad of fabrics narrowing down the range to the few fabrics that truly fit your needs and budget.

The Vertical Batten Mainsail offers additional sail area for in mast furling and Vektron™ offers the very best of woven sail cloth stability through the use of liquid crystal Vectranâ fibres.
The Vertical Batten Mainsail system and Hood patented Vektron™ sailcloth puts high performance back into the furling mainsail. The additional sail area on the roach makes the mainsail up to 20% larger than a hollow leech in-mast furling mainsail, thereby optimising the overall aerodynamics. Another key feature are its round vertical linked carbon and vinylester resin full length battens, which are linked together with varying stiffness, designed especially for the furling function. The benefit extends to the maintained boat speed through improved aerodynamics and more controllable sail shape through reefing. This unique furling mainsail will point higher and perform with increased boat speed off wind and provide an improved reefing technique.

Equipped with four to five forced battens, the large sail E-Batten Elvstrom Sails enables you to sail:
- More comfortably (absence of fasseillage, taken laugh pushed back, use compatible with lazy jacks and lazy bag).
- Longer (by eliminating the faseillage, one eliminates one from the major causes of ageing of roving).
- More quickly (better structured profile and surfaces increased).
The battens are taken again and adjustable with dimensions guindant by a special case equipped with a caster traveller intended to take again generated compression.
Presented here in configuration Offshore sport boat (intensive deep-sea use) dacron high tenacity, the large E-Batten sail can be declined in completions Coastal (pleasure use), to obtain many options (laugh car, return of nerve of fall by guindant, etc...) and to profit from technology membrane Genesis Endurance.

Ideal for the units until 30/35', the large sail Cruising Coastal Mainstrom takes again to it quasi entirety of the advantages of a large entirely lathed sail.
Thanks to its two higher forced battens, it indeed makes it possible to sail:
- More comfortably (significant limitation of the faseillage, adapted use to the lazy jacks and lazy bag).
- More quickly (Round of fall more pushed, better structured profile)
- Longer (by limiting the faseillage, one limits the tiredness of roving.
Presented here according to a horizontal cut dacron high tenacity and Coastal completions (adapted to a practice current pleasure), this one can be however declined in version Offshore (completions adapted to an intensive practice), to see itself equipped with many options (laugh 3, laugh car, cunningham, etc...) and to profit from technology membrane Genesis Endurance.

Large the Sails Elvstrom Sails EMS is an answer tested to the owners wishing to enjoy the comfort of a furler of large sail in the mast, while preserving a round of fall making it possible as well as possible to exploit the aptitudes of their sailboats.
Equipped with three to four vertical battens, it profits from specific completions of bracket allowing the extra thickness generated by the battens not to block the system of rolling up, for a maximum safety.
Presented here in completions Offshore sport boat Tri-Optimal (roving Radial Hydranet Spectra Polyster), this large sail is also declined in version Coastal X Cut (a completion more adapted to current a pleasure use, associated with a horizontal cut Dacron High tenacity), in lathing EMS + (long battens + intermediate short battens) or without battens.

The large sail Elvstrom Sails completion "Club" are intended to the owners eager to practice the regatta between two week end of ballade, without having to change set of sails... Or more simply with those for which the performances are a decisive criterion even in cruising.
The rovings Cruising sandwich, made up essentially of polyester fibers, associated with films interns mylar and of protection taffeta on each face, answer perfectly this type of program. Since now more than ten years, they indeed offer a particularly efficient alternative in term of robustness, of longevity and of stability of profile, performance guarantees.
Equipped with a clear completion gray, these rovings in addition join perfectly the lines modern sailboats of fast cruising.
Presented here in traditional version lathing, the large sail Elvstrom Sails "Club" can in addition be declined in semi lathing (mainstrom) or integral lathing (e-batten).
The sails Elvstrom Sails Club completions in addition can, in option, to profit from technology Genesis EMT (Elvstrom Membrane Technology) Endurance or Platinium.

Thanks to technologies EPEX and EMT (Elvstrom Technology Membranes) Endurance, you profit from cruising sails or race cruising getting:
- More course and of power.
- More comfort.
- More robustness.
The sail is indeed carried out starting from composite membranes associating films mylar, fibers (polyester or vectran according to the size of the boat) and taffeta of protection on each face.
These membranes are produced to measure according to a process patented by Elvstrom Sails, ensuring a perfect linearity of the fibers, which radiate very precisely according to the orientation of the mechanical constraints undergone by the sail.
The sail is consequently:
- Lighter, generating more comfort (reduction in the list, pitching, facilitated operations).
- Equipped with a profile appreciably more stable. By avoiding any dissipation of deformation energy of roving, all the power is restored with the boat.
Years of development around this technology make it possible from now on to place this technology at the disposal of all the navigators, since the yachtman (Epex Endurance Coastal completions) to the deep-sea navigator (Epex Endurance Offshore completions).
For the most demanding projects and the maximum ones or mega yachts, Elvstrom Sails in addition developed a die of production of membranes top-of-the-range, Epex Technologie, completely controlled and exclusively dedicated to the Elvstrom sails.
Epex caratérise in particular by a vacuum lamination extrème, ensuring an unequalled management of the glues and a scrupulous respect of the orientation of fibers.

In-mast furling units are usually found on older cruising boats but still a very popular choice for the offshore market. They offer a very convenient way to furl the sail and offer a user friendly shorthanded solution to the cruising sailor.
Traditionally the inmast furling mainsail was viewed as an inefficient sail for windward performance but with the solution of vertical battens performance is greatly improved.
