The MP-G brings the cruising yachtsman a purpose-designed and proven option for sailing in light airs. The design incorporates a bi-radial construction, making full use of the strong warp characteristics of top quality nylon for maximum strength and retention of shape.
The MP-G is designed for use in light to medium airs (0 -12 knots) and apparent wind angles of 30 - 90 degrees. It improves light air performance and compliments the small inventory of the cruising yacht - mainsail, furling genoa and perhaps Cruising Chute. When the furling genoa is too small and heavy, the MP-G provides light air power and keeps the boat moving.
The MP-G is set flying so there is no need to remove the furling genoa. Nylon construction together with a non stretch luff rope, makes it particularly easy to handle; it also means that the MP-G takes up minimal storage space. No specialised or costly equipment is needed - just a halyard and sheets.

The idea of building storm sails to carry out their work in the worst conditions is one we do not take lightly. We have learned through the harsh realities of heavy weather sailing, the important aspects of construction and use of these sails.
To start: the O.R.C. required maximum areas for the storm jib (.05 IG 2 ) and the storm trysail (.175 (P*E)) produce sails that are too large in area for safe sailing in worst case scenarios. As a company policy we make our storm sails 25-30% smaller than these maximum areas. We utilize the very best in Challenge and Contender woven Dacron fabric for these sails and offer an International Distress Orange fabric as well. This is now required for offshore racing, but is not required for non-racers.

By aligning the panels (widths) at best of the direction envisaged of the efforts requesting the sail, the cut tri-optimal of sail making Elvstrom Sails allows a significant profit in versatility on a genoa sail on furler.

The sail is indeed carried out starting from composite membranes associating films mylar, fibers (polyester or vectran according to the size of the boat) and taffeta of protection on each face.
These membranes are produced to measure according to a process patented by Elvstrom Sails, ensuring a perfect linearity of the fibers, which radiate very precisely according to the orientation of the mechanical constraints undergone by the sail.
The sail is consequently:
- Lighter, generating more comfort (reduction in the list, pitching, facilitated operations).
- Equipped with a profile appreciably more stable. By avoiding any dissipation of deformation energy of roving, all the power is restored with the boat.

For the most demanding projects and the maximum ones or mega yachts, Elvstrom Sails in addition developed a die of production of membranes top-of-the-range, Epex Technology, completely controlled and exclusively dedicated to the Elvstrom sails.
Epex caratérise in particular by a vacuum lamination extrème, ensuring an unequalled management of the glues and a scrupulous respect of the orientation of fibers.
