At NauticExpo, the cruising sailboat is differentiated from the sailing-yacht by size: the former is under 15 meters. Equipment and features vary, depending on intended use, either coasting or blue-water sailing.
Cruising implies the possibility of sleeping aboard. Since comfort requirements differ from person to person, berths range from simple bunks to luxurious cabins.
Cruising sailboats are fitted out according to the type and range of intended voyages. While most are built of fiberglass, wood, aluminum and steel are also used. Rigging, cabin arrangement, deck plan and ballast possibilities are numerous, though sometimes limited by size of vessel
