The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
Classic yachts are over 15 meters long, can be powered by sails (sailing yachts) or by a motor (motor yachts), and feature retro lines.
Such yachts are generally capable of circumnavigating the globe. They feature displacement hulls, and though relatively slow are remarkably autonomous.
They can also be used for luxury chartering. Such units feature crew quarters and beautifully decorated passenger rooms.
Classic yachts are generally made of steel, aluminum or, in the case of smaller models, composite materials.
They can feature one or several decks and specific amenities such as jacuzzis, cinema rooms, sports rooms, and numerous types of water-sports crafts (jet-ski, sailing dinghy, etc.). Such crafts consequently require powerful generators.
They feature several cabins, usually all equipped with their own bathroom.
A vast majority of classical yachts are custom-built on order.
Choice between sail and motor propulsion is the first element to consider. The former has the advantage of being silent, elegant and environmentally-sound. The latter allows to reach high-speeds but is noisy and highly energy-consuming.
