Classic boats include sailboats, powerboats and rowed craft. Its design is reminiscent of vintage vessels.
Such boats are intended for recreational use. They are very popular among lovers of traditional maritime architecture and woodwork. These charming craft can be used for the same range of activities as modern boats, including day outings, short cruises and water skiing. Sailed and rowed versions even participate in regattas.
Wood is omnipresent in these craft, though composites with a traditional finish are increasingly used. In addition to traditional sailboats, there are runabouts, river craft and launches, some with berths. Rowboats are perfect for silent fishing or romantic outings on lakes, ponds and rivers. Construction may employ traditional solid wood frames and planking, or modern methods such as molded wood, glue-lamination or epoxied, laminated plywood.
Propulsion method is the first item to consider. Sailing requires some basic knowledge, which can be learned in a few hours at a sailing school. This effort is rewarded by the ability to cruise in silence, without polluting.
