The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
A center console catamaran is a twin-hulled powerboat with extensive, unencumbered deck space. Those offered on NauticExpo are up to 15 meters in length.
These craft are intended primarily for fishing, though their shallow draft make them suitable for pleasure outings in the most remote areas. Their open deck plan generally limits them to temperate climates or summer activities. However, those with a cabin may be used for coastal cruising.
Most of these cats are made from fiberglass/polyester laminates. Some are equipped with a hardtop for shade and rain protection. A flying bridge offers additional deck space and an unobstructed view of the sea. They usually carry one or two inboard or outboard engines. Those with particularly powerful motors are better suited to towing sports than fishing or cruising models, which offer modest performance but better fuel economy.
Two engines offer both enhanced maneuverability in close quarters and safety in case of a breakdown. Vessel size is another key factor. The length scale with sliding cursor on the NauticExpo page will aid in selection.
