OSSA Powerlite® propulsion motors are the result of over 14 years of research in advanced permanent magnet motor technology by our parent company, Glacier Bay, Inc.. They have been developed specifically for use in yacht propulsion and do not require the use of a transmission or other gear reduction. Furthermore, they are available in a wide power range (20 hp - 800 hp) which eliminates need to use multiple motors and controllers on a single shaft to obtain the high power required for larger vessels. The motors have a flat torque curve, developing the rated torque from startup to maximum RPM.
