How to choose this product

A boat hand flare is a hand-held, ergonomic, manually-triggered pyrotechnic safety device. It is used to indicate a vessel in distress, signal a collision risk or guide a rescue team. On NauticExpo, these devices are for use on recreational craft.

Applications

These devices can take the form of parachute flares to indicate position at night over a long distance, of a Bengal light for short-range signaling or of a smoke bomb for a daytime alert. All types of vessels should carry such devices. However, they can be difficult to stow aboard watersports and beach-side craft.

Technologies

The explosive materials are contained in a watertight plastic or aluminum tube with triggering instructions on the packaging. Activation is usually via a handle or a pull-cord. Know how to use the device before an emergency arrives. Check the expiration date on the tube before every trip to sea.
