The use of new SD Radar systems (Super Definition) makes your Colour Plotter an excellent High Definition Radar Screen for navigating in any weather condition.
Five Antenna versions are available, which allow a wide choice based on preferred navigation and type of vessel, both sailboat and motorboat.
All informations provided by the system are perfectly visible on the LCD Display. The contours of the Radar image will surprise you with their clear brightness.
The Lorenz SD Radar system can be interfaced with cartographic plotters of the World Map 11 and Starlight Dual series.
Some of the most important features like EBL, VRM, Rings, Mark positioning, rotation speed control, sectorial obstacle alarm with choice of angle and selected distance, make the Radar system easy and intuitive to use.
The great innovation is brought by the CHART OVERLAY system that allows to place the cartographic image over the image actually read by the Radar, as seen from the bow of the vessel.
This feature is particularly advisable for night navigation and with poor visibility. The radar system makes navigation more secure in difficult passages or when entering a harbour, than when depending only on the predefined nautical chart.
The SD Radar is supplied with an Anticollision System that automatically gives an optical and acoustic alarm signal that calculates on forehand if on your route you will meet other obstacles.

The GMR 24 digital radar combines power, range and exceptional target definition for improved situational awareness on the water.
Track Targets
This 24-inch radome has 4 kilowatts of transmit power and a range of 48 nautical miles. GMR 24 boasts a 3.6° horizontal and 25-degree vertical beamwidth, which allows for clear target definition in all weather conditions. It also features dual rotation speed, with the ability to switch from 24 RPM to 30 RPM for rapid target updates while navigating in tight quarters.
With the GMR 24, you can also avoid traffic on the water using the unit's MARPA target tracking, which allows you to track the bearing, course, speed and predicted closest approach of multiple targets.
Easily Connect to the Garmin Marine Network
The GMR 24 transmits data over the Garmin Marine Network, a waterproof 100-megabit plug-and-play proprietary network that gives you the ability to expand your boat's system as needed. Like other Garmin radar, GMR 24 processes raw data within the radome. This avoids the need for a dedicated external display, allowing any network-compatible Garmin chartplotter to double as your radar screen. And as an aid to locational awareness, you can overlay the GMR 24 radar image on the chartplotter's map page. You can also split the on-screen display so that you can view the map and the standard radar page simultaneously.

The powerful 24-inch GMR 41 digital radar and its counterpart, the GMR 21, help you steer clear of hazards, giving you more confidence and peace of mind on the water.
The GMR 41 is a 24-inch radome with 4 kilowatts of transmit power and a range of 36 nautical miles. With 3.6° horizontal beamwidth, the GMR 41 offers clear target definition in all weather conditions. The GMR 41 processes raw data within the radome for fast and efficient presentation of radar signatures.
You can also use the GMR 41 to avoid traffic on the water with MARPA target tracking, which allows you to track the bearing, course, speed and predicted closest approach of up to 10 targets.
