In the event of electric propulsion, the batteries are often discharged and it is for that we recommend the installation of a battery to you which can support such a treatment and which moreover has a very long lifespan. The batteries of VETUS, standard MGA, satisfy largely these requirements. Standard battery VETUS MGA of a capacity of 214 Ah with slow discharge is appropriate ideally for an electric propulsion. Some of the most important properties of a battery MGA:
- The battery does not produce a gas with a normal use, consequently there do not exist bad smells and moreover the risk of an explosion is practically null.
- The filling of the battery is completely superfluous and indeed useless.

In contrast to the quick surge of power that is required for starting, deep cycle batteries are called upon to deliver smaller amounts of current over long periods of hours or days, rather than seconds.
While DEKA deep cycle batteries can deliver plenty of starting power, they are specifically designed to withstand the special rigors of long, deep discharges and long, slow recharges. In the starting mode, a gas or diesel marine engine (inboard, outboard or auxiliary type) places a demand for high amperage, or starting current, to “crank the engine” up to starting RPM. This high starting current must be delivered quickly month after month after month. Otherwise, the engine cranks too slowly and may not start at all...especially if the battery has been sitting for long periods, is extremely hot, has been drained by an auxiliary load, or the engine is in an untuned condition. In any event, you can’t start. All you can do is float.
