The Online Boating and Maritime Exhibition
An anchor handling tug is a type of tugboat. It usually has an aft work deck where oil platform anchors are transported and repaired.
Such tugs can also be used for towing, provisioning and other jobs.
Most of these tugs have azimuth propulsion, giving them the maneuvering precision necessary for anchoring offshore platforms.
Choice will depend on the deck dimensions and towing power of the vessel.
